Lesli BortzParticipantPersonally I think that wasn't a great carb nite. If you hadn't had one for 14 days you should've eaten quite a bit and it doesn't seem that you did. Can you be more specific on the quantity of carbs that you had that night? The fact you went on a trip and had more carbs than usual and 6 ULC days later dropped to 281 (similar to a regular CN schedule) shows me that you need those carbs and insulin spike to keep from stalling.

enhill73ParticipantYou do know you were very very low calorie before increasing your macros right? So your body is adjusting and freaking out because it thinks you're going to starve yourself again. So it's holding onto everything it can. Once you continue this progress, and keep fueling/feeding yourself with plenty of food, the body fat will start to fall off. Have to remember you're becoming healthy, and repairing the damage. Once that is done, you'll start getting the progress wanted.
I do. It's been over a month of eating the higher macros diet. I guess I was spoiled after my initial weight loss and not losing any weight for 2 months now still doesn't seem right. I'm not expecting to be at 220 right now, but I'd figured that I would be under 280, since I hit 281 two months ago tomorrow. I haven't gotten back to my lowest of 281 in 3 weeks. I'm like hovering around 283-285. I'll give it some more time and see where I stand in a few more weeks. Thank you!!

Yes. Well first off, my first carb nite I went crazy and it took me 2 weeks to lose the weight that I gain from it. So, I learned the hard way that I can't go super crazy and eat a ton of stuff. Especially sugary/dessert like sweets. With that being said my last carb nite was, and this is over the course of 6 hours maybe, 3/4 of a load of cuban bread (its a big loaf, about 2 1/2 foot long), about 2 1/2-3 cups of white rice, 3 empanadas, 2 publix cupcakes. I have IBS as well and sometimes when I eat a bunch of carbs my stomach gets really upset and bloated. It was a lot of food over the course of 6 hours and i was pretty full most of it, but ate anyway.

enhill73ParticipantDoes anyone have any thoughts on the recommended PWS? I'm currently taking about 30 grams of WPI, 5 grams of creatine and 5 grams of leucine. I'm curious if anyone has had success just taking WPI or not at all. Thank you for any help!!

Richard SchmittModeratorWhile on CNS, that is a good amount for a PWO Shake. It does help and highly recommended. I've had success using that.

Thank you! I've had success with it is regards to keeping strength levels up and stuff like that, but when I think back my weight lost was slowed/stopped when I started doing the describe PWO shake. I'm just trying to figure out what to tinker with to get weight loss going again. I was thinking maybe the leucine was spiking my insulin too much and what was stopping my weight loss. Thinking of cutting it out and just doing protein and seeing how I respond. Thank you for you comment.

Lesli BortzParticipantI agree with tex. I take between 15-25g WPI PWO and leucine (I can't take creatine…too much creatinine in my system apparently).

enhill73ParticipantI guess my question is, could the creatine or leucine somehow get in the way of weight loss. I've been in a big plateau the last 2 months (2 months and I can't be below my lowest weight of 281) and was wondering if these two things were somehow blunting my weight loss. My diet is pretty solid i think. Ive been eating more calories and fat the past 5 weeks and I haven't lost anything. Just trying something to see if it will spark weight loss again.

Richard SchmittModeratorWhat are your macros like? And no honestly those two shouldn't be causing anything “wrong” with losing body fat.

I was tracking things with my fitness pal for a few weeks and I kinda eat the same things week in and week out, so I still know what I'm getting. I'm super honest with myself and not fudging or leaving stuff out. I was eating anywhere from 2400-2600 calories a day. Fat intake was 180+, protein was about 165-175 per day and I was getting under 20 carbs a day. I drink over a gallon of water a day as well. I've been eating like that for about 5 weeks now and I can't get below my lowest weight of 281. I've had like 2 carb nites over this same period and I hover around 284-287 every week. Clothes are not fitting better than they were months ago either, so I know I'm not losing body fat anymore. I feel great and preform pretty well in the gym, but I don't know what else to do other than change my PWO shake and see if that does anything. I had success before on the diet, but like said March 2nd I was 281 and I've hit that only once in the past two months. Thank you so much for helping me figure this out. I really appreciate it!!!

Richard SchmittModeratorTry lowering fat intake and protein intake. Use a Target BW of 10lbs less than what you weigh now. Use .6-.75g for fat grams as a starter. Then increase if need be. You can keep protein from .8g-1g/BW as well.
May 5, 2014 at 7:46 pm #216029
enhill73ParticipantOkay. Thank you!!! I'll give that a shot and see what happens. I'm praying that does the trick. Being super strick on the diet and not seeing results for months has been really frustrating.
