Hi, I'm a newbie and was hoping for some advice from some of you veterans if you don't mind. I just started my prep phase for CBL and have been trying to get my supplements nailed down. I was looking at putting together my A.M. Accelerator Shake for the mornings and currently have GNC's Amplified Wheybolic 60 protein laying around the house. I was hoping to use it for the Whey Isolate portion of the shake. My question: is this a worthwhile protein supplement for the manner in which I'm using it? I'm looking to follow the SA path but just trying to keep my carbs low during the prep phase and keep my fat burning self up and running when I wake up until I catch my first meal around noon.Currently my shake includes 16oz of Coffee, 1tbsp of Coconut Oil and 10g of the protein I mentioned above. Should I be concerned that the protein isn't PURE Whey Isolate? Is there such thing as PURE Whey Isolate? The OTHER INGREDIENTS on the container read: Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Whey), Cocoa (Processed with Alkali), Natural and Artificial Flavors, Polydextrose, Lecithin, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium. Don't know if this helps, but here is the exact product: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3509954. My concern is that the additional ingredients may be giving me a spike that I don't want. From what I can tell, everyone seems fond of TrueNutritions products...do they have a protein that you would recommend for the morning shake specifically? I tried searching around the forums for similar questions and this was the closest post that I could find: http://athlete.io/forum/index.php?topic=6791.msg75824#msg75824. It's pretty old though and doesn't necessarily answer my direct question about adding it to the morning shake. Thanks a bunch in advance!

It's fine, but in all honestly is a complete waste if money. I worked for GNC for three years and do not support their products what so ever. My advice would be use what you already have, and then order all your supplements off true nutrition or protein factory. Cleaner and more affordable in the long run.

In general, stay away from GNC products until you become capable of reading labels and determining for yourself whether a product is good based upon the ingredients and proportions. This happens to be one of the better GNC products, though there are other better options for whey.

@GonnaBeGiant Thanks a bunch for the the feedback! I've seen people saying similar things about GNC products and honestly didn't realize they were over priced. I'm guessing that's what they're hoping for. Do you have any recommendations for a good Whey Isolate for the manner in which I'm looking to use it? Either by TN or anyone else. Would love to hear them.@tzanghi I think that's fair, I'm the first to admit I've got a LOT to learn as far as all of this goes...but that's why we're here, right? The ingredients certainly sound like another language to me and I appreciate your feedback. My main concern is that I was affecting things in a negative way. That said, do you have any feedback on my actual question regarding it being a good or bad option for the morning shake? Furthermore, would you be willing to explain why it is or isn't a good option?

+1 MajorGNC's sports supplements are garbage.  There vitamins, minerals, ect. however are pretty good and ok to use.  As long as you know what you are buying.

TN has has cold filtered whey isolate for like 9$ a lb. can't beat that. Or you could even get a concentrate and it would doable as well.

I apologize for not making myself more clear in my first post.  It's fine; I don't think it's bad, as you'll see most of those ingredients in other isolate blends, but something without as many ingredients would be better.  And perhaps flavored with stevia instead of Ace-K and Sucralose if you're not into artificial sweeteners.  Hope this helps!

Beautiful, thank you for the help. I'm going to take a look at TN and see what they've got, really appreciate the push in the right direction 🙂 I saw this post this morning as well in which you seem to reiterate the same things: http://athlete.io/forum/index.php?topic=16267.0Looking forward to learning more. Cheers!

Definitely no need to apologize, I certainly appreciate you taking time out of your day to help! That's actually really helpful. It would make sense that something with less ingredients would be more beneficial which is kind of why I was asking, especially because I didn't know what the additional ingredients were 🙂 I think I've got some great information to go off of so I'm going to take a look around. Thanks again for the help!

If you're interested in this type of thing, just google or wiki each ingredient individually.  You can catch a decent idea of what they are and if you personally would be ok with consuming them.
