Can anyone recommend a single unified source of material regarding lifting? I'm talking about something that will cover ALL the foundational material. A book, a website, movie…I'm recently getting into lifting and I would love to find a piece like this.Things like:All the terms that get tossed around. Hypertrophy, sarcoplasmic, pre-work out nutrition, post workout nutrition, bulking vs. cutting, supplements, how to do certain lifts, what lifts to do for certain muscle work, anatomy of muscles, what does "5/3/1 2 top lifts @ xx lbs" mean?, discussing different lifting programs for different goals, etc. etc...I like reading forums and listening to podcasts, but I wish I had a single (or even two or three solid pieces) source of information to lay a good foundation for an education in this stuff. That way I can spend my time on forums/blogs fine-tuning my own strategy rather than scraping around trying to piece together all the basics...Thanks in advance!bluprint

There are two guys I listen to when it comes to training, and it happens they have opposing views on many things, though they agree on the basic stuff.http://www.lift-run-bang.com ---> Paul Carter is a great ressource for people who are serious about the lifting lifestyle. He has great articles and books on training, diet, philosophy and all sorts of good stuff. He has different programs depending on what your goals are, from the average joe who just wants to be fit and strong to the powerlifter preparing for a meet. Paul's programs are very structured and foolproof for the most part.http://www.chaosandpain.com ----> The flipside of LRB, Jamie Lewis is big on the seek and destroy philosophy and finding out what works best for you through experimentation. He writes a lot of articles on old timers and seemingly outlandish training methods and gives many suggestions for improving your lifts. If you need a solid kick in the ass to get your ass in the gym as much as possible and shoot for glory, this is your guy. He has two books, one being an organized collection of his blog posts and the other one focused on training. He also has a diet which is very similar to CN.

I would add to that http://www.elitefts.com. They have tons of article, training logs, and a Q&A section with a wide range of contributors. Lift-Run-Bang and Chaos and Pain are both amazing sites though. Just be aware that Chaos and Pain isn't exactly safe for work.

Nothing against Paul, he's a great guy and knows what he is talking about, plus he's a good role model.But...I like Jamie's writing and attitude much better, his style is just very entertaining and he manages to deliver solid information along the way, information that often goes against the pessimistic shit that infuriates me. The guy started powerlifting to fuck with people, for that fact alone I respect him. Plus, who doesn't like pics of naked chicks, excessive profanity, violence and hyperboles? Not this guy. Even my DAD loves reading this shit. Check your balls if none of what Jamie says resonates with you.

I like Starting Strength a LOT better. I did SL5X5 for a while, and my lifts were a HOT mess. I learned more from an hour with Starting Strength than I did in months with SL.

I fail to see how this is related to lifting in any way, shape or form. Don't be so sensitive.

X2 for CNP and LRB since adopting these training methods but more specifically mind frame, every one of my lifts has increased, my volume capacity is through the roof and my physique has and is improving without a doubt.
