New to CBL, new to forums in general.  So far, this looks like a great group here.  Looks like I can learn a lot and reap some good benefits.  I'm an accountant in my day job and I find the paradox a bit humorous, hence the CPAPower handle.  Accepted a new opportunity with a fortune 500 company a year ago and the VP of Tax of all people got me excited about powerlifting.  Been doing 5-3-1 since November and loving every day of it, hating the off days.  If I can make this a way of life, we'll likely have the strongest finance group in the history of corporate america.  I'm a bigger guy, off and on lifter for a while, but more of a general nerd than an athlete.  I'm a family man and therefore an early morning lifer.  Lifting just feels right; good release, some me time, and my body responds well so naturally I gravitate to what I'm good at.So the VP got me into powerlifting and after listening to you-tubes from the likes of Louie Simmons and EliteFTS I found Mark Bell from SuperTraining who led me to CNS which led me to Kiefer and to CBL which led me to buy the book.  Looks circuitous on the face but if you're into the scene, it's a logical progression.  I'm 6'2", 248.  Always been a bigger guy and would probably be best around 210-220 so should probably look into CNS but CBL seems more doable for a lifestyle and here I am. Already have the beautiful wife and kids so there's really no hurry here.  Starting the prep phase in the morning.  House smells like the bacon I prepped for the week's snacks.  First PL meet is March 23.  Probably shouldn't change the diet so close to it, but hell, anything I do is a PR at this point.  Best wishes for success to everyone on this forum.  For that matter, best wishes to anyone out there with goals to be healthier and to perform better but they're not all in this forum, are they...?

Forgot to say it in your responses to my milk questions Tex.  Sincerely, thank you for your service.  I never had the balls to serve but I'm glad there are guys like you out there who did.

CPA  I don't know how serious you want to take powerlifting, but if you want to be competitive, you are going to want to weigh more than 210 at your height.Lose all your body fat to get to a good composition (10-15%) and after that start gaining weight again. If you are just doing Powerlifting for fun, well then it doesn't really matter.  Just have fun!

Thanks for the advice.  That's generally the goal, lose BF then build back up but how committed I get depends on how much I like this first meet.  It's helpful to know where I might stand in relation to the average Joe's out there.  All I ever read about is the Stan Efferdings, Andy Boltons, Dan Greens, Ed Coan (he can't be pluralized), Dave Hoffs, Donnie Thompsons, etc. Hard to compare so perspective is nice.  You'll get a kick out of this.  Met Eric Lillibridge the other day.  Stopped in at his gym to ask about a meet and he was behind the front desk.  Felt like a school girl, got a little star struck.  Guy was massive.  And did I mention I'm 6'2" and 1/8 of a ton myself? How long have you been PLing, Ibob?

Not very long.  I only did one meet in January (I am doing another one in April) so I really didn't start training until last October.
