FairyGuestYou're welcome. Personally, I think it's a waste of time to do core exercise. Focus on doing compound movements with free weights using excellent form and your core will get built in proportion to the rest of your body. If you are not getting sleep every night, you may want to consider training less than 5 days a week because you need to minimize stress on your body. Keep in mind that working night shifts lowers your life expectancy for that same reason: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=working+night+shift+life+expectancy&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari

Damon AmatoParticipantI was 12% in my avatar photo. I still got my period there and I was LEAN. Infact, you can go to my website, http://www.danalynnfit.com Thats me at 12%. I would say you are around 16% in that photo, Fairy.
That is a ridiculously sexy body.

MikehrMemberI would put you at 15%You seem to store more fat around your gut. This could be because you're not getting proper sleep or managing stress properly. I think you should do CNS every 5 days, and train heavy 4 days a week until your body fat is lower / more even. Then switch to CBL
Yeah, I've always been this way, storing most of my fat around my belly unfortunatly. I'm working nightshifts in a restaurant 3-4 nights per week right now, so getting proper sleep is a bit of a puzzle.Right now, I'm training 5 days a week using the Shockwave 1.4/HD protocols (1.4 for 2 days legs and core, and HD for the three other workouts, chest, shoulders and back). Is this too much do you think? Should I switch to a more fullbody/upper-lowersplit-type program using an A-B-off-A-B-off-off approach? I used Propane Fitness protocol before Shockwave and liked it. Thanks for the response and advice by the way!
Just wanted to point out that when males store body fat its almost always in the lower midsection and lower back this is normal and is a sign that your hormones are in check, its when you have more fat in other places rather than your midsection that you have hormonal imbalances

FairyGuestThanks for pointing that out Mike! It's normal for men to store fat at the centre of their bodies and it would be more concerning if they stored it on boobs or bum or thighs (as is healthier for women)!!

This is true, and it also has to do with genetics. For instance, people with northern Euro blood lines store more fat in their abdomen than other places (from a genetic / evolutionary standpoint). Has to do with the cold extreme climates where their bloodlines hail, and organ protection / insulation.By and large, men do store more fat in the midsection / lower back. Women more so in the thighs, butt and estro-receptor sites (like upper arms, breasts, etc.).Cory

RaidhoMemberHuh, did not know that Cory! It seems to me like every winter I instantly put on some extra sub-cutaneos fat, not much, but its there. Yeah, genetics… My mom was overweight before and during her pregnancy with me, and is obese right now. Probably added a bunch of extra fatcells to my frame. My dad on the other hand was and still is a long-distance runner, tall and somewhat slim, or rather skinny-fat. But I got his really big thighs, and they grow like weed when I train them. My upper body on the other hand... Hoping some SW-HD will turn that around!

FairyGuestPut on more muscle mass, eat the right foods and you will change how your genes express.

It is all genetics, blood-line and hormone-related. I have a friend, who trains in my dojo... he is Dominican. He is about my build and muscularity, but holds fat noticably different. While he does hold it in his midsection, he doesn't hold it in the same extreme as myself (and holds it in other areas, more uniformly, that I do not).Whereas I am mostly Irish (majority) and German blood, but my Irish roots are heavily Norweigan influenced (due to Viking settlement in that area). I hold most of my fat in my midsection and lower back, very little anywhere else.Cory
