jcp91KeymasterHow's it going everyone? I've been on CBL for about three months now, and have had really great success with it. I had played with leangains and other protocols in the past, but since coming across CBL and Kiefer's other protocols, I don't see myself ever really deviating from CBL or CNS. A I am 6'0" 182 lbs and roughly 7-8% bodyfat. I got tested at a bodpod about a month ago and it came back at 5.95%, but that seemed a little low to me. I know that they can be off by a few percentage points. Currently using CBL do add size and strength. Not full on Density Bulking as I don't backload on off days or have breakfast right away, but I will say that I am currently focused on size and strength moreso than fat loss. I've been looking through the forums for a couple months now to gather information. Recently, I have felt compelled to start posting and be more active as I have seen a.) how welcoming everyone is on here and b.) how willing everyone is to share info and help. I am currently going into my Senior year of college up in Northern California and studying pre-health sciences. The information on here has had pretty vast application to my coursework which has been pretty awesome. (It's nice to be able to drop knowledge bombs on professors when it comes to biochemistry and physiology haha)I don't really know what other information to post, but if anyone has questions about anything else about me, I would be happy to answer them.

It was kind of a bastardized version of modified CNS before I knew what modified CNS was. I got down to 8% before I stumbled across these forums or owned the CBL book. I had read Kiefer's free articles about CBL and Carb Nite, from DH.com and elitefts and tried to cirtically think my way through it. I was working out 4 days a week (Mon Tues Fri Sat) with HIIT on Wed. and Sun. I would have a carb nite on Tues and Saturday night, but they were just backloads after those trainining sessions (they wouldn't last 6 hours) and were roughly 500g of carbs if I recall correctly. The other days I would just eat protein, fat, and a little bit of vegetables. I tried to keep it pretty simple (i'm in college and trying to save money whereever I can haha), so it was basically just fatty cuts of beef, eggs, and veggiesI have always been fairly lean just due to playing sports throughout high school and college (I finished up my water polo career in college this past fall) but had never really been able to get those last few pounds off or add significant amounts of strength. I was basically stuck at right around 175 pounds with the same body comp for a few years. I used this method to get down to about 168 and have been backloading ever since. This was all throughout February and March of this year. Then I bought the CBL book in early April. Sorry for the long winded response, I hope this helps though.

FineSigilMemberGreat post! Backloading works. I find leaner guys actually benefit from more (3-4x) backloads though mileages may vary with re: amount of junk. Like you, I got good results with some sizeable backloads but if I gorged too much I'd get fat. Fairly commonsensical. The magic seems to come from alternating those protein/moderate fat & veggie “rest” days with more aggressive carb backloading training days. Its funny but there's another approach, nearly 180 to CBL, but also garners much success. It's called carbless post workout, or carb front loading LOL. You don't eat any carbs for 8-36 hours post workout, keeping insulin sensitivty extremely high and then the next day, pre workout, you gorge on some carbs. Similar physiological response (increased sweating, heat) but with benefit of full energy stores going into a workout for pumps/swelling. Does it work better than CBL? I dont' konw, would be curious to hear if anyones done something similar. I'm contemplating experimenting with it.

jcp91GuestThanks man. Yeah back loading does work, really well. That protocol sounds interesting, but for me, I'm really liking how things are going so reluctant to change things. I'd be interested to hear how your experiences go, but I'm hesitant to promote not taking advantage of the anabolic environment post workout
