I found a hail ball like someone had cleaned their hairbrush out in my Gold Standard 100% Casein.

That's nasty man…Sorry you had to experience that.I just get my casein from True Nutrition/Protein Factory, I believe their quality is superior to ON. I used to be a big Optimum Nutrition whore (bought everything from there) before I started Carb Back Loading.
