GnomerParticipantDepends on who it get it from but I agree more sushi rice please and thank you
true i have seen dextrose derived from tapioca might be better on the gut.. but i'm happy with rice:)
My wife makes sticky rice which is completely awesome therefore great for the evening meals for spikingUnfortunately not so convenient for PWO shake.I remember supplementing with 100g dextrose when creatine was really popular about 10yrs ago - proclaimed as necessary to shuttle the creatine into the muscle cells at the time. For someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth it was horrific at best.
i have a home gym so i can easily just eat rice after my workout.. you can make protein pudding though and its fine cold and you can take it in a tupperware anywhere.. For 1 serving in a bowl put in a scoop of protein powder and add some water(i use coconut milk you could use regular milk i suppose) make a nice sludge mixture. Then add good helping of rice and mix it all up. Add more liquid if you want depending on what sort of consistency you want. Then you can add spices like cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice and some fruit if you wish like some chopped up banana. Great pwo meal:)

its nice to have a variety of protein flavors as well... although i don't use any whey due to allergy i have egg in couple flavors.. even strawberry is good i just don't add the extra seasoning for strawberry.. chocolate is great with real strawberries added. Vanilla is good with just about anything but usually use banana for it.Whey has a ton more nice flavor options as well so you can be very creative with it

Jamie HobdellParticipantBackloaded dirty? YepAs a newbie I didn't have a clue where my parameters would be. I was already fat, but decided on trying cbl instead of sticking to cns. So giddy with excitement of eating all sorts of dirty carbs, I commenced.Basically I let the animal out of the cage. Was going to bed after work with 3 crispy kremes and about a pint of skimmed milk. And the suggested Hypertopic super shake minus the caffeine.I figured I'd have to keep this going for a few weeks to get a proper result, and I did.Chubby managed to put on 3-4 inches on his waist, which equated to about 1.5/2 stone in a matter of 2-3 weeks. That's pretty amazing I thought!I should've seen the signs in the first week, but the greedy little sod wasn't done eating crispy kreme donuts and in denial. My conclusion after quite a few weeks of pondering. As I'm on the smaller side at 5'5", and I normally take womens numbers when taking formulas from such strategies (as I'm short, womens numbers seem to work for me, have done in the past, but I am a bloke).So.....conclusion is.....just too way too many kcals. My backloads need to be scaled way down.My quest is still on, albeit after putting on a load more weight. I might have to do a turn around and go back onto cns. I've had a shit load of stress at work lately and not had a chance to really think about which way to go about such things.Hopefully put on some muscle, at least I was getting stronger weekly.. Not sure if this a positive or negative reply. Not sure if it was a positive or negative result.Either way, an honest reply to your original question. I'm just at the smaller end, not like the big guys. So I'm guessing smaller people need to be a little more cautious....Don't let the animal outta the cage!ChubChub

Sounds like you may have gotten things mixed up a little. I'd suggest you post a log and open it up to the forumHaven't read through the entire blog but what protocol did you follow CN or CBL?CBL I assume as you mentioned multiple carbnites - but did you actually hit the iron?

Jamie HobdellParticipantT-Bone300Of course I was lifting, but the kcals/carbs/fats were way too high for myself.I've thought of doing a log, but I haven't the time. Yep, it was cbl which I stated very obviously, especially as the original thread was about cbl.Never had things mixed up, just didn't know my parameters. Especially as formula numbers for carbs in the book are the extreme high end, which Kiefer has just admitted to in latest Q&A. At the time of my little experiment I didn't know where I'd fall within the numbers.Obviously I have a better idea now.......as in nowhere near what I was doing.Cbl is not a magic cure for eating way above what would be within ones thresholds.

Gl;itch.eMemberI have had a 1/4 tub of Ice Cream every training day for about 2 years now. I also have a Pizza 1-2 nights a week. As well as my PWO Skittle/Gummy Bear addiction. Seems to work well for me. Though I am trying to gain weight not lose it at present. I still ate those when I was losing weight. However I could have cut the amount back a little more perhaps (:

dspence1GuestI would agree that the whole east like crap is mostly a book seller however for those of us with very limited food options (as in a dining facility) – you take what you can get.I typically try to achieve some sort of balance with either rice, french fries or potatoes plus a protein (based on what's available) like grilled chicken, chicken strips or some sort of beef option.Desert is typically a PBJ on texas white bread, maybe some nutella. I'll throw in some donuts or chex mix based on how I feel.I also AM train so I try to take things down a notch or two unless I'm going for an especially big lifting session. Not always easy with sweets!

DrapMemberMy experience on CBL has been varied. You can eat shit for every backload and every meal in the backload and you'll gain weight. Which is fine if thts your goal. I have found that if you keep the 1st meal "clean" so Thai rice and chicken for example and then have 400ml of ice cream with a whey shake for the second meal then I end up loosing about .5-1 lb a week. That's Is what I have found works for me. I also limit PWO carbs to 40gs

I might add. I was only backloading 3-4 x a week

steve_76MemberI use the dirty method but only on training days within two hours of workout. I have reduced the amount of carbs to 250-350. I am aiming for closer to 250 now. I use dextrose post workout(45g carbs) and I have two ripe bananas(48g carbs) The rest of the backload will be ice cream, muffins or cookies (fresh from bakery), pizza(fresh), cheescake, cinnamon swirls, brownies, donuts, etc depending on what's available. When running DB for two months I put on a little bit of fat after finshing a four month low cal diet. At one point I was consuming 600g on training days. Non training would be no higher than 200, but I kept it clean. I should point out that I put on fat very quickly so I was pleasantly surprised by this. I am now running SA using the dirty method however I've messed it up a couple of times since starting so I haven't seen much fat loss. In saying I have maintained weight. I am starting again this week and will be strict on the diet. I think it is important to not eat like a fat kid, as it says in the book, and always have a lean protein source with your carb meal.
