Hey every one.  A little info and background… I'm Scott, 35 years old.  I have been working out for about 4 years now with minimal gains.  I recently followed an abs diet and work out plan I found in a magazine with some good results.  Six pack is starting to show went from about 172 to 152.  Not sure about body fat but assume I'm close to 10% .  I was doing 30 mins steady cardio at 4 a.m. Before work ( which starts at 6) then lifting 4 days a week after work at 230.  So.... I guess I'm just looking for advice as to how to approach starting this.... Should I do the prep phase, should I just work out at 230 after work and do some HIITs a few days a week after lifting or still do that in the mornin?  Any thoughts would help. Thanks in advance Scott

Yes, start with the prep phaseMagazine 'abs' workouts are notoriously terrible. You might want to look at Starting Strength.

Thanks I will take your advice .  Do u have any favorite proteins mixes u use?  I was going to try something called nitrean.  I have two 5lbs of this http://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-whey-protein-complex-powder-with-bcaas but I notice it has no casein so I assume it's a no no?

Do the prep. Full ten days. Find a good program like SL or 5/3/1 or SS

You don't sound stupid at all. It's a good question. These programs are lifting routines that are really good at someone who is new around weights or lifting. Great way to build up strength and learn form.

By the way those are Strong Lifts, Jim Wendlers 531, and Starting Strength.
