chico1MemberThere is a new study out about a leucine metabolite that has shown promising results. It can potentially prevent catobolism and increase muscle mass. Has anyone tried it? The link below is the scientific study about it.http://www.jissn.com/content/7/1/1

Richard SchmittModeratorWith the fancy name at the end, Kiefer has pretty much said that's what Leucine is for taking PWO.

Iron3GuestI've been trying to find the answer to that myself all day! Seems pretty back-and-forth as far as benefits and who will benefit (beginners vs. advanced / older lifters). Some more info here would be quite helpful!

HMB is also Leucine metabolite, but it is fuck all expensive, and really only useful for pissing away your money if you are a healthy, trained lifter (not even advanced). The only people who tend to benefit, at all, from HMB are seniors who are losing muscle, and newbie lifters (for a very short time). Yet, it still requires a large dose for its price point. HICA is just another metabolite of Leucine. Another marketing ploy.I would just take Leucine, you'll save $$$. 5g of Leucine or 10g of 2:1:1 BCAAs will suffice. Both also build muscle mass and prevent catabolism of muscle tissue. As do both Creatine and Glutamine.Cory

Iron3GuestSo straight leucine then or BCAAs? Though I know Kiefer recommends just leucine but it's pretty hard to find (especially for a good bargain).I heard that you don't need the other 2 bcaas to aid leucine absorption assuming you're adding it to a shake or taking with food in which case there are already nutrients to help absorb the leucine, but if taking leucine / bcaas alone all 3 bcaas are needed for absorption...Anyway, it's a lot easier to find bcaa powder, but usually you need to take more servings to get the right leucine amount and that can get pretty costly too...

5g of Leucine or 10g of BCAAs (@ 2:1:1 in favor of Leucine). Either will work. If you can find BCAAs easier where you are, just go with them (and dose as I suggested).Personally, I use USP Labs' Modern BCAAs, and dose 12g @ 8:1:1 in favor of Leucine (that is a fuck-load of Leucine). You can get that in bulk here (exclusive):http://www.nutraplanet.com/product/uspowders/bulk-modern-bcaa-1-kg.html?sel=42971 Kilo for $30 USD.Cory
