Would Insanity be considered a glycogen depleting workout or a HIIT workout of some kind?

You know I think that type of program used with CNS only would be ok. Depending on if you listen to your body really well.

I am good with listening to my body most of the time. Are you speaking in terms of over doing the cardio aspect of it?

Over training with Carb Nite yes. I mean its only done two days after a CN. Then it'll be ok. But again if you eat enough and get enough rest I wouldn't see a problem in doing Insanity. I just know it doesn't work well with CBL.

Ok, that sounds great. Should I have a post workout protein shake with 0 carbs? Or not necessary? I am unsure on this point. I was thinking of trying hemp protein instead of whey isolate. Do you think that would spike insulin like whey or not so much?

If you plan on doing Insanity in the mornings I wouldn't do a PWO Shake just because of spiking insulin and wanting fat loss. If you need some more protein, take some whey prior to bed.

It would be in the late morning around 11:45-noon time. I was thinking of doing Hemp protein or pea protein at the Whole Foods Store. Do you think that this would be okay?

Also, this is well beyond the 14 hour fasting mark. Should I maybe eat something and then do the workout to prevent muscle breakdown or maybe have a shake before the WO? Should I risk doing it fasted?

Ah…well no way of actually doing that workout any earlier? Any type of whey during the morning/first half of the day is really a no-go. You would be better off with whole foods.

Well I could certainly try to get up super early on my HIIT days which would be Sunday and Monday, possibly Tuesday- depending. Can I use something else for the protein supplement though? Do they all spike insulin, or just mostly whey?

For days you do HIIT or just protein in general? There is word going around the forums, (just checking on it) that you can have some whey isolate and leucine Post-HIIT. You could go ahead and try it and see what it'll do for you. But if you're wanting protein just in general have it later in the day. Or stick to whole food choices. Really suppose to get 1:1 in grams for fats and proteins per meal.

Just for the days that I do HIIT. I eat whole foods all day long, but I was just unsure about post HIIT nutrition. Because even though I will not build much muscle out of the Insanity workout, I just dont want to lose what I have- just reveal it. So I think that after my HIIT sessions, I will try some hemp protein instead of whey. Also, I eat more fat than protein. I usually have 4-8 eggs a day, a lbs of bacon, eat a whole stick of butter and 1-3 tbs of coconut oil If I feel like it, and one chicken breast...not enough protein? or too much fat?

Oh yeah ok I understand. Try the whey and leucine Post-HIIT then.About the meals, if you're eating to 1g per body weight of protein matching it with fat you'll be good to go. and keep the golden 1:1 rule.

Ok, I will definitely do that. Just so I understand, I weigh 130lbs right now, but I have no idea how much of this weight is lean mass and the rest fat. So I should aim for 130/130 P:F ratio then?

That would definitely be a good place to start. Eating to low will be bad. Good luck and have fun with Insanity!! If you're able to would try to get an accurate way to test your lean mass and body fat percentage. It would help as well.
