Did you think about creating shoutbox under the main forum page?I'd find it quite usefull 🙂

That gets messy, in terms of structure of site .at least that is my opinion

Yeah, in my experience, what happens with shoutboxes is that newbies think that's where they should post questions, and then they get frustrated and don't come back.
