lillywhitesMemberAt 45yrs old, starting to wonder how lean is realistic, without completely isolation myself from family dinner time with my own special meal. I'm 5'10″ 176 @ 12.5-13%. As you get older, the body holds more fat, making it just that much more difficult to get leaner (URL link below)I'm looking to be <10%. Anyone out there 40-45+ know if this is realistic or not.....thanks ;Dhttp://www.accufitness.com/images/pdf/accufitness-accumeasure-bodyfatchart.pdf

Cory McCarthyMemberWhile age can make it more difficult (for hormone reasons, etc.), without any specific medical conditions, anyone should be able to lean down (to even contest shape) at any age. Depends on how much / hard you're willing to work, and what lengths you're willing to go to for that goal. You get what you give.Unless you're looking to compete, 12-14% would be perfectly acceptable (and you'd have visible abs in that range). Though, you apparently are already in that range? +1, i knew quite a few guys around 50 that were 10% bodyfat and they looked great and even drank quite a bit! To maintain that kind of physique your probably going to have to sacrifice most of your day to meals that will accommodate a 10% physique, however i don't see why you couldn't have a typical carb meal / family dinner... especially if you are resistance training prior to the occasion. John Meadows, for example, doesn't believe in EVER taking carbs completely out of the diet, and he gets to sub 4% - you just have to do the research and some trial and error till you get it right! On that level, your approach is much more Subjective
