EMS218KeymasterHey everyone! I have had great luck with using CN to stay at a low body fat that was obtained through a strict diet and too much cardio for a competition. I am now able to eat a much more manageable diet and have a lot more freedom and cut out long duriation cardio, so I am loving it!I put my mom on carb nite. She has read most of the book, etc. She is going on 3 weeks and hasn't lost any weight. She's about 5'7'' and 140# so she is not really over weight but has some weight she wants to lose. For someone like this, how long does it normally take to lose the weight? Shes getting frustrated bc she hasn't lost any weight yet. She goes to the gym, but not on a regular schedule so I think that would definitely help but I'm thinking in another week or so she should be at LEAST down a few lbs??Let me know your experiences!!Thanks!

webbyMemberHow's her diet and what's her macros?

EMS218GuestShe's between like 1200-1500kcals a day usually, under 30NC. Her protein could be higher…shes eating like 100ish or so. I told her she needs to up it, but because she's not weight training currently (im trying to get her into it but looking for a good trainer bc she has back issues and lives in a different city) I don't think she needs to be a 1gm/lb of Body Weight. I told her she needs to be well over 100grams and should aim for like 120#. The main thing thats bothering me is that she says she doesn't feel good on this "diet". I feel great and love it, but I realize it's not for everyone. I feel like if she saw some results she would "feel better"

webbyMemberMaybe she needs to up protein and subsequently fat if she's not feeling great. How many grams of fat is she taking in?

FairyGuestFirst thing I would look at is sleep/stress/hormones. As long as she's no-carb through the week macros shouldn't make a whole lot of difference.

EMS218GuestI think around 80ish grams fat give or take depending on the day. That was my thought...I told her if she feels okay to stick with it for another week or so but after that if she didn't hasn't lost any we may need to try something else. So you all are in agreement that if she is following protocol, at this point she should have lost something or at least within the next week right??

Brandon D ChristParticipantAsk her how her clothes fit and consider taking pictures. Kiefer said it is a common amongst middle aged women to not lose much weight, but to recomp.

kcarolhxwParticipantNot to be THAT person, but what about her quality protein intake? Does she eat quality meats? How's her dairy (lots of cheese etc?), and is she eating breakfast or skipping it?I can't speak for the recomping but I hear people say that's possible. If she's willing to tinker then I vote for tinkering with nutrient timing and quality nutrient intake.
