Walter NorwoodParticipantI'm 6'4″ – currently 239 lbs w/ 18% bodyfat, so roughly 195 lbs of lean body mass. What is the minimum amount of protein I should be consuming to maintain muscle while trying to shed bodyfat?Currently I'm eating 2600 cals on workout days, roughly 185-190g protein, 20g net carbs, 200g fat.Non-workout days I'm taking in around 2500 cals, roughly 175g protein, 20g carbs, 190g fat.CarbNite I aim for 800-1000g carbs. Also I'm extremely fatigued in the afternoons - I workout 4 days a week, M/T, Thu/Fri...I have CarbNite on Wednesday, workout heavy Thurs/Fri and follow those two session w/ 10 minutes of HIIT. The other days I rest. Any thoughts on this? My meals are mostly 80/20 beef, butter, veggies, and MCT oil once a day with coffee. At this point the fatigue is my biggest deterrent on the diet...and hunger on ULC days. Hunger is typically strong upon awakening and before dinner. I workout fasted except for a pre-workout energy shake. PWO is leucine, glutamine, and 40g Whey Isolate. Would throwing in some creatine help me here?Sleep is good (7-8 hours a night), stress is ok. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks as always!By the way, I've seen steady decreases in measurements around my navel.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorHow long have you been using the diet? It might be worth while to take a break..8g of protein per lbs of LBM is fine, so you're good there.

Walter NorwoodParticipantNot long at all…I started in July but have had a vacation in July and a vacation in August…I've had more reorientations than I have CarbNites…I'm really just getting started. What do you think I'm doing wrong?

Walter NorwoodParticipantI guess my biggest question is am I eating enough?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorYou look to be eating enough to me.Is this every day or just close to your carb nite? What is your age?

Walter NorwoodParticipantI felt pretty good two days post CarbNite…but for the most part it's pretty regular. I'm 30…feel like I'm 65 at times in need of a desperate afternoon nap. For what it's worth, I sit at a desk all day.

I'd get your hormone levels checked.

Walter NorwoodParticipantCool – I'll check with my doc, any other possibilities?

Nothing that springs to mind like possible low testosterone or elevated cortisol levels.

Walter NorwoodParticipantSo would this be a primary care physician or naturopathic doc?

A primary care doc should run the hormonal panel for you.
