zach454KeymasterHow much fat do you typically get while doing carb nite? Last one I did I hit FAT=287g/PROTIEN=161g/CARBS=580g. Now this next one I am going to do less junk food and be conservative on the amount and my hit 250-300g of CARBS thru the 6-8 hr period. What does everybody else try and hit?

CCTMemberIt usually depends on the sources of food. I have found that the fat content doesnt really matter if you start the CN low-fat (i.e. cereal, rice, potatoes, dextrose), and then eat whatever you want for the later part.

Much too low for a 1x/wk CNS, in my opinion.. Unless you're really small. As for your original question: I'm not on CNS, but when I do go back to it, I'll employ the same principles-ish as I do with backloading now.. Backload days: 190-200g pro/120-130g fatULC days: 120-130g pro/190-200g fat

Carbs 500-600, fat 100-160. The 1st half of CN is pretty low fat, the 2nd half is when I hit the heavy stuff.

Tracy JarchowParticipantThe reason for CN is to get a maximal short duration, 6-8 hour, insulin response. That is best done with low fat high GI foods. Fats have a tendency to blunt an insulin response. So low fat is the way to go for most of your CN. The suggestion is to have some fats in your last meal/snack of the night (think premium ice cream) so overnight your body will not go into a hypoglycemic state and you will have enough energy from the slow metabolizing fats to keep your body humming along until the next day.

I second that. Ive tried close to zero fat CN, where I had 400g carbs from rice, maple syrup, cereal/fat free milk, and I felt dead the next day during my workout.
