GypsykingParticipantI heard of people having great success doing PHAT with CBL, I'm doing SA for now and was wondering what days would I carb up more for, power or hypertrophy? Or would there be no difference? For those unfamiliar with it....http://www.simplyshredded.com/mega-feature-layne-norton-training-series-full-powerhypertrophy-routine-updated-2011.html

Richard SchmittModeratorFind what works for you. If you need to backload only on Power days then do so. It's all based on goals and how you perform. Backload every day if you need to. No one can tell you “How to Backload” because we aren't you and don't know how your body is. Just listen to it and you'll find out what you need

GypsykingParticipantI was afraid of that haha. I'll feel it out, was just hoping for some right or wrong science based answer but you're probably right.

Richard SchmittModeratorPretty much gave you a science based answer in “obseravtion” and “tracking those observations”

GypsykingParticipantnot knocking you, just saying I wish there was a specific answer laid out to make it easier

Richard SchmittModerator….Have any stats?HEIGHT?WEIGHT?BF?LBM?BW TO CARBS?POUNDS LOST IN PREP?INTOLERANCE TO ANY FOODS?

MikehrMemberIn terms of performance most people can lift heavy weights with low reps with low glycogen so the power days shouldnt be too bad, the hypertrophy/higher reps are much harder with low glyco so i would reccomend doing a backload after those days. If I were you I would do a big backload on monday after upper body power, smaller one tuesday because your not training wednesday, a big one thursday small one friday and saturday. Or you could just do one monday, thursday and friday, as those days you both train and are training the following day. Thats my opinion
January 17, 2013 at 4:09 am #135950
GypsykingParticipantSo you wouldn't backload on the day you don't work out, even if you're lifting the next day? that's confused me considering your body utilizes the carbs best pwo, but Kiefer also said backload the day before working out, seems like a conundrum
January 17, 2013 at 12:34 pm #135951
Richard SchmittModeratorIt all depends upon goals, if you want to be a Strength Athlete then backload the night prior to use those to maximize the lifts. If asethetics is the main goal then backload PWO like normal.

MikehrMemberOk well carbs = performance to a certain extent so if you want the absolute best performance backload after and each training session and before each training session. But saturdays on training session isn't gonna completely emptying your glyco so mondays workout is impossible, Im doing phat with one day of carbs a week btw.
January 17, 2013 at 8:32 pm #135953
GypsykingParticipantHow is that working out for you Mike?
January 17, 2013 at 8:40 pm #135954
MikehrMemberJust fine performance wise, in terms of muscle growth i need more carbs so I'm adding a second small backload on thursdays, so cn style backload on monday and small backload thursday is the plan.
January 17, 2013 at 8:55 pm #135955
guitarjonParticipantI'm doing basically the same kind of thing as Mike. I have a CN on Saturday and a backload on Wednesday. I'm using PHAT and this week for example, I did HIIT on Sunday and again before I trained on Monday, then I did a 3rd HIIT session today before I trained.
January 17, 2013 at 9:11 pm #135956
GypsykingParticipantHIIT would seem to go well with the power days I think, has anyone here read/tried Lyle Mcdonalds Ultimate Diet 2.0? It's not a far cry from PHAT training and the diet involved is the anabolic diet, basically you carb up on the weekends but he had it structured so you carbed up right after you were depleted for the week, then did your power sessions the next day, but CBL seems to be an evolution of that concept where you don't have to deplete all week. Maybe a hybrid of UD2.0 and CBL would be in order, just adjust the timing and workout schedule to get the best bang for your carbs. I've been going over Kiefers Xmas present too as to how he arranged the loads for different work outputs and depending on the workload the next day, I will hopefully come up with something and post it soon. Any other insight or experiences are appreciated
January 17, 2013 at 9:59 pm #135957
MikehrMemberOh ok well I am not familiar with the UD2.0 there is like 0 information on it unless you buy it,wanna outline for me man if you have time? Just rough outline.
