begoonMemberHello! How to figure out how many carbs to eat on the carbnite? I can eat 4 donuts and a small pizza, but I can easily have 10 donuts and large pizza, etc.Should I use calories as the base point for that? Thanks,

John LaPlaca JrMemberEat to the point of feeling full. I wouldn't purposely stuff yourself. If you are aiming more for fat loss I would keep the fat low in the front part of the evening and the fattier stuff like donuts and pizza toward the end. Here is my CN from Saturday…4:00pm-PWO(1 scoop of dextrose, waxy maize, 1 scoop of combat powder, 1 scoop of hydro whey, leucine, creatine)5:00pm- half a plate of jasmine rice, grilled chicken with bbq sauce and coconut aminos7:00pm- sashmi and sushi with more rice9:30pm- Home made gluten free pinapple and ham pizza11:00pm- Pumpkin ice creamI didn't stuff myself at all and felt better eating to the point of being full.

When I did CN last year I would agree with you for the most part, but this time around I am not really wanting many sweet foods. I did see Reese Cup brownies Saturday and I didn't buy them. However I do want to try them this upcoming weekend. I personally love Jasmine rice, Sushi, and home made pizza.

Save the sugary things until the end, like in Jlap's example.. Then you likely won't have the stomach capacity to continue smashing ice cream or whatever.. At least not as much... Theoretically... Uhh, yeah.. ha.

John LaPlaca JrMemberI also think it makes a difference to how you feel when you keep the fat toward the end. This Saturday I might have to work my second job so this is the current plan…PWO shake@4:00pm5:00pm Rice and Chicken7:00pm Rice and chicken again9:30pm- Home made pizza or burger and fries from the bar I work at.11:00pm the reese brownies(Considering adding Combat Powder to it since it is Chocolate Peanut Butter flavored)

Brandon D ChristParticipantYea these guys give good ideas, especially for women. For men I actually think you really don't need to worry about this unless you are over 20% bodyfat. Maybe a little lower if you don't train.

I am naturally a fat guy so this time around I am keeping it as low fat as possible until the end of the night.

No one is naturally fat 😉 , but if you are more predisposed to storing fat than yea having more modest Carb Nites might be a good idea. Especially because eating dirty really offers no benefit.

That's what I mean lol. I think people who are very overweight or if sugary treats are a problem for them, it only reinforces it if you have too much of it, even on a CN. I think people start justifiying CBL or additional CN's just for the carbs.

SakecatMemberThe first thing I have learned about Carb nite solution is that stuffing my self with carbs just adds weight and I end up loosing the same 5 lbs I lost last week. So I will also be doing a more reasonable carbnite. I have been eating to the point of being overly full. Clearly not what I need to be doing. I find my self racing the clock to pound down carbs at the end of the night. I had 2 large baked potatoes at the end of my last carbnite that took a little longer to bake than I thought they would. So I found my self forcing down large baked potatoes with butter at 11:00 pm and then trying to squeeze in a bowl of ice cream. I can absolutely attest to over loading on carbs slowing down the fat loss. It is now the 3rd day after my carb nite and I am just now getting past the weight I put on over carb nite. Oh, well live learn and move on.

Its werid because last year I had some really "dirty" CN's with more than 2 beers and I was fine. From my first CN this time around I already feel better from sticking with the cleaner "dirty" carbs and eating until I am full. As much as I am looking forward to these brownies I want to make Saturday, I won't purposely slam them all to stuff myself. Even if you eat a traditional bodybuilding diet for fat loss, it is still fine to eat 1 or 2 bad meals on a weekly basis.

CCTMemberI would agree with what most everyone on here is saying. Personally, I havent done CN, but I have done 2x per week CBL with CN six refeeds, and have had both very dirty, and clean meals. If I stopped eating right before I felt bloated, I notice almost no difference between clean/dirty. This may be because I have no issues digesting gluten.

The Gluten Point that you make is very interesting. I don't think I have a problem with the gluten either I feel that I am just adding to many calories on carb night. Like you said I don't think clean or dirty matter that much. The only reason I could think that the cleanliness would matter is the vitamin and micro nutrients present. All those good nutrients are going to help the body feel better without a doubt.

Tracy JarchowParticipantIt seems the gluten issue is very personal. My wife is pretty sensitive to it as I was when we were doing gluten once a week on CN. After a couple months of gluten free I went back to trying it on on several CN's and have had no noticeable problems. It still bothers my wife however. Joint pain in her knees and bloating mostly.I think the only way to find out is to self experiment. Kiefer has recently mentioned that once a person has been off it it for a while and the inflammation has ceased many folks don't have a problem with it if you just have some on occasion. In fact some gluten on occasion might actually be healthful as it can keep your immune system primed.Another experiment I did was going on a cruise for a week and eating like a pig every evening including lots of gluten. My knee and my elbow pain came roaring back. After a week gluten free it was gone again. Very interesting this gluten stuff!
