I found this by accident searching for something else on youtube, and tried it during my last Back workout, and I have to tell you, I never experienced soreness so isolated in my Traps before, no matter how heavy I went.  My Traps were sore for days after using this little tweak.  Thought I would share:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTzJ4llBRks&feature=related

I am absolutely going to start doing my shrugs in this fashion. I felt a huge difference just doing this in a chair at work with no weights. I can't wait for shrug day!

i gave this a try last night. could only get a proper contraction using less than half the weight i normally shrug with. it felt slightly awkward w/ dumbbells, more than being heavy, so i may experiment w. cables later in the week. your arms tend to do the first 5 degrees of a lateral raise using this method, so i figure it could be a good match
