Brandon D ChristParticipantWhy should you abstain from them?
There could be insulin related issues, but mostly people just tend to do better if they stay away from them. Whey protein doesn't really keep a positive nitrogen balance that long. If you haven't noticed the less processed your food the better.

rallenGuesti don't think insanity would be a good idea with CN, your gona kill your body, and if you get all the way down to under 10% bf your just going to be really skinny with no muscles.if you do insanity, you need to be at least eating carbs every other day, just not so junky of carbs.but if you want to get under 10% BF, your best bet is really to lift weights. Lifting weights promotes the most fat loss.Just lifting weights twice a week would EXTREMELY benefit your fat loss. but insanity is a drawn out form of HiiT, if your serious about it(which you would have to be to complete either work outs listed.) Take that energy and focus it towards something that is going to make you look like a greek god when your done. CN with weight lifting 3-4 days a week, if you want fast toned results add HiiT 3-4 days with the lifting. Once you try that, you will realize your going to have to be eating carbs at least twice a weak without wrecking your body.

Richard SchmittModeratorY'all know that you don't have to do Insanity as prescribed? That you can go all out for 30-60 seconds and rest for 3-4 minutes.

SebcourParticipantI do the Asylum which is a little bit more strength and muscle building than insanity. Also, I don't lift weight cause I have no desire to get any bulkier than I am right now, and would get detrimental to my job as a golf pro. Thanks guys for all your inputs!! Helps a lot to figure things out, really appreciate it.

SebcourParticipantSo, would you suggest to do CBL instead of CNS then?Like somebody else recommended earlier?
February 9, 2013 at 2:37 am #142540
Richard SchmittModeratorUh no, not with Asylum or Insanity
February 9, 2013 at 2:38 am #142541
SebcourParticipantWell, now I really don't know what to do about the whole thing… :(lol

Richard SchmittModeratorCNS. The book book SPECIFICALLY said that CBL won't work with Insanity or P90x or the like. You can structure ULC meals to meet your needs if you're feeling run down. Like I said before, you don't have to run it as prescribed, do it like a HIIT fashion. 30-60 seconds with a 3-4 minute rest. You can pause it and play again. Do it every other day with a decent weight training if you want.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorYou can use a CBL framework with insanity or asylum, it just wont be as effective as lifting would be.

SebcourParticipantI see. Thanks guys!!I already figured out how to cut my fat intake tremendously and added more meat into my menu.I think I'm stay on CNS for a little bit to see how it goes and go from there. Also, even though I'm not eating much carbs a day, I'm not tired at all to do my workouts. Don't feel any differences between before and now.

You would really have to tone down the backloads.

RudeeGuestCNS. The book book SPECIFICALLY said that CBL won't work with Insanity or P90x or the like.
CBS worked remarkably well for me doing P90x. I went from 18% BF down to 11% in 12 weeks. The fat was melting off! What I did differently was that I ate ultra clean in terms of proteins, carbs and fats. I wasn't eating chicken wings, bacon and fruit loops, I was eating lean (highly digestible) proteins (fish, chicken, turkey, eggs), and lots of green veggies, and lots (LOTS) of healthy fats in the form of almonds, avocado, flax, Omega 3 enriched eggs My carb sources were mostly rice and sweet potato post workout. Protein powder was consumed only post workout as well. I'm a pretty strong guy, so during my P90x workouts I was using the heaviest weights I could handle for 8-10 reps, which for dumbbell curls was 50lb dumbbells, and 100lb one arm rows, etc. 70-75lb dumbbell shoulder presses for 10 reps, etc. I think the key to getting results with P90x while on a modified CBL is to push yourself by using the heaviest weights you can lift comfortably. That's what I did throughout the 12 weeks, and it paid off for me. I got exactly the results I was hoping for. In the future if I happen to pork up a bit and want to drop a lot of fat in a short amount of time, I'll do exactly what I did without changing a thing.

Absolutely not! Insanity and Asylum are anaerobic workout programs. Unlike aerobic workouts which use oxygen to ATP energy, anaerobic workouts require glucose, and lots of it. If anything, you would need to increase your backloads when doing these programs, which for some, can easily approach VO2 max rather quickly. When you are exercising anaerobically, there are only two fuel sources available to the body at that level: glucose from your liver and muscles or glucose from amino acids, often via lean muscle tissue through the process of Gluconeogenesis. The last one is never a good thing. Be sure you have plenty of carbs.

Richard SchmittModeratorI still stand by what I said in regards to these programs. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, I'm not going with what Kiefer said, but rather my own personal opinions on it

Did you read the book...?If you did you would know that neither of these will translocate tGLUT so you wouldn't have the wiggle room on carb amounts. Therefor, you would want to tone down the backloads. Also, excess cardio work can make the translocation of tGLUT more difficult.
