case terrebonneParticipantI have recently discovered that I can make over roasted pecans with butter and kosher salt. They are extremely delicious. Since I haven't been to the gym, I think that I might be taking into too many calories and fat. My normal days have been 1/2 cup heavy cream with 2 tbs of MCT oil in my coffee, 34 grams of the pecans and then a 16 oz rib eye with 2 tbs sour cream for supper. That puts me around 2600 cals and 235 fat and 115 protein with only 6 carbs which is around 3 net or so. I have kind of stalled again with the weight loss and I think that me eating the way I do might have something to do with it.

cloudybrainParticipantI'd go lighter on the pecans or nut categories.. fats from nuts aren't handled as well as fats from animals. Also why are you going through half a cup of heavy cream? I mean it's fine, but you could do for a lot less. Also fat sources from cheeses are usually a culprit for stalling. Like sour cream or too much heavy cream. That's why there's really no mention of cream in the bullet proof coffee recipe, butter, ghee, mct oil, and coconut are the way to go. I usually put just a small bit of it to change the color of the coffee to a light brown :-pBut those numbers for fats aren't problematic nor is the calorie count. I eat just enough so I don't get headaches. Personally, I feel if you don't exercise, and you're following the diet to perfection, then it's time to tweak. I'm currently doing a carb nite once every 2 weeks and see if that works. If not, then tweak it up, or maybe figure out what you're doing on carb nite.

that's good to know about the dairy aspect of my diet. This weekend I will drink up the rest of my heavy cream and cut out all of the dairy for a few weeks while keeping on the pecans and see what happens and if still stalling I'll cut out the pecans and just go with animal fats and see how that works for a couple of weeks.

How much do you weigh. Unless you are over 200 lbs, that is quite a bit of calories. One problem with nuts, oils, and cream is that they are really easy to overeat. Try to eat more meat and veggies instead.

I am 238 and 6' tall. I should probably get my BF calculated.

Brian M EckstromParticipantthat would be the fat intake for a 400+lb person with the protein of a 120lb person. did you start at the baseline? .5gFAT/1gPRO per lb *target* bodyweight.Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2

There may lie my issue, I have deviated from the baseline I see. The reason the protein is so low is because I am not lifting right now and I dropped it down and upped the fat in order to get off my plateau a few weeks back. That plateau turned out to be splenda. So I cut splenda out and dropped another 4-5 pounds but back at a plateau. So If I am trying to get down to 220 I should baseline at 220g protein and 110-165g fat?today is my carb nite, So I'll start sunday back at baseline and cut out all dairy and nuts(I am out of pecans anyway). Maybe by doing that I'll start to lose again.

TCBParticipantIMO, there isn't a whole lot of reason to go over 200g protein. Especially on CNS. So for you I'd say ~200g pro/~160-170g fat.Might be worth a switch up, if for nothing else than to keep the body guessing. Lots of people here, myself included, do an inverted ratio though and eat more fat (in grams) than protein. It's not that that's wrong, it's just you need to find what works for you best!

Yeah that is where I would recommend starting from. I'd give it two weeks at 110 fat and 210-20 protein and then assess from there. I know a lot of people have success with inverted ratios but I would suggest staring at the starting point and then worry about changing things up. I started off eating tons of fat and didn't have any real progress until I fixed the ratios. Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2

case terrebonneParticipantthanks guys, I'll give it a go.
November 21, 2013 at 7:04 pm #208726
case terrebonneParticipantwell you guys were right with the nuts and dairy and fat. I cut out all of the nuts and dairy and then upped my protein and lowered the fat and as of today I am two days ahead of weight. So I should be down 1-1.5 pounds this carb night. Thanks again!
