Powergirl36MemberSo, when left to my own devices, call me weird but I hate bacon. BUT… seeing as it is a necessary evil of this, I am eating it this afternoon in a quest to learn to love it….Wish me luck. 😉

I have to think this is true. I will never understand disliking bacon. You don't HAVE to eat it though, it's just a great food for this.

Shaun Hutchinson-LawsonParticipantAs a side note(as I'm new to this), do any of you cut the fat off the bacon. or can a person eat it as is…?

Personally I cut the big strip of fat off of my pieces. But thats only because the texture kind of weirds me out. Its not to try to limit the amount of fat Im consuming. So yes, eat it as it.

Honestly, you are eating the bacon for the fat content. Cutting it off defeats the purpose. I personally look for fattier (whiter) bacon.Edit: that was more for Avo13. If the texture weirds you out missmarce then maybe cook it longer so it gets crispier?

jtrouve63MemberLeave the fat on! I just fry it and most of it will cook off and then cook some food in the grease. Save a lot of money on cooking oil this way. Cook the bacon and make an omelette in the grease, mmmmmm

Brandon D ChristParticipantActually a good replacement for bacon is unsweetened chocolate. Cocoa butter (the fat in chocolate) is even higher in stearic acid than bacon. Since it is very bitter (even more so than coffee) you kind of have to develop a taste for it, but each square has 15 g of fat, 4 g usable carbs, 2g of fiber.Â

Make sure you're not over cooking it. I find many people do.
