youngmrcleanGuestI feel a good energy boost too, but more of in my bowel movements…haha. The only shake I haven't done yet is the hypertrophic one because I don't have the ingredients…should be getting them from ups soon

TCBParticipantI'm only 21 so I supposedly could do this sort of thing. But if you're in the gym 6 or 7 times a week, as a natural, you're bullshitting. If you're training properly with high intensity, you shouldn't need to be in there 6-7 times a week.
I probably shouldn't have been so blunt. I guess I'm a minimalist and my philosophy involves reaping the greatest reward for the least time involved. When i'm in the gym, I make it count.
Tell that to Olympic weightlifters, who train twice a day, and upwards of 6 days a week. Trevor is exactly right. It's dependent on your goals and training style. But also on your recovery abilities (both your genetic/epigenetic ability, and external qualifiers like work/school/sleep). If you can train more, and still recover, you're going to make more gains. Period.
Apologies guys I won't be so close-minded in future, I understand everyone has different circumstances/commitments etc. I am of the opinion though that some lifters are in the gym far more than they actually need to be.Olympic weightlifters. I think it goes without saying HOW they are able to train like that.
That's being just as close-minded. The vast majority of the top American weightlifters are clean (ie: MDUSA). They have to be because they randomly get tested by USADA. And most of them freely admit that if they weren't tested, they would gladly use "enhancers."

TCBParticipantwhat would you recommend for carbs? Ive read the book and Kiefer says keep it trashy..i did the whole trashy stint with cookies, ice cream, pizza....and I just got bloated and fat...I recently switched to white rice which seems to work..but could I eat whole-grain cereals like kellogs too?
But! He also says not to eat like a fat kid. I think the point he's trying to get across by saying "keep it trashy" is to go against the general "healthy carbohydrates" recommendation of low-glycemic/low-insulinemic carbs, and to eat things that are HIGH glycemic/insulinemic. You can still include some of the dirtier things, just try limiting it to once or twice a week or something! As for the ignition shake, it's probably the combination of the caffeine and the MCT working together to generate some parastolsis.. you could try lowering the amount of MCT in it and see if you feel any better

I'm from Australia so I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that federation. My comment however, was referencing the elite Olympic lifters.

Yes bc for some it poses problems, others do well with them

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI started using the ignition shake and I wouldn't go without it now.
So are u using the shake prewo and carbs intra?
Yes, I do 10g whey and 5-10g MCT pre-workout, then 15g hydro whey, 10g hydro casein, and 30g HBCD intra.
Keifer talks in length about NOT having carbs intra workout....
As with most things, it depends. Some people nearly need them. Plus, HBCD don't cause a massive insulin spike and release a more steady supply of glucose to prevent hypo.

What does HBCD stand for? I started using 30g dextrose and 25g iso-100 a couple weeks ago.. Has worked pretty well so far..

Highly branched cyclic dextrins. I can't do dextrose, even 20g in a PWO will make me go hypo pretty quick, even if I take my time drinking it.

Yes you are right lol. The past week ive just been eating 150g of white rice and it seems to be working well for me. I don't look bloated anymore. Ill definitely try lowering the mct oil. cause im doing deadlifts today...don't want any embarrassing moments to happen haha

Ok, so simply personal tolerance?

Most people that use HBCD say they seem to work better. Personally, I'd try them at some point just to see if you notice a difference in comparison to dextrose.Biotest has Plazma which has both HBCD and casein hydro, Gaspari has Glycofuse which is HBCD, and the TN.com sells bulk HBCD.

For intra, right? PWO you want the higher spike that a dextrose/waxy-maize would give, correct? Or do you use the HBCD PWO also and just use the hydro/leucine to supplement the less drastic insulin spike of the HBCD?
