Carlos22KeymasterAny advice on if I can do cbl & sw since I injured my back? Should I just dead lift very low weight and work back up?

mwachtelParticipantThink id just do CarbNite, or backload after a good upper body workout (like bench press workout).Deadlifting w/ light weight probably wouldn't illicit a proper amount of Tglut. What kind of injury we talking here? Pulled muscle, or herniated disc?

the rhomboids/middle back and lats can be engaged with many different exercises putting the back in a more suitable position. I would think about 'exercise selection' more or less. If you were stuck on deadlifting you could begin with rack pulls instead and see how that goes. That's pretty much 3/4 a deadlift and your starting point will essentially be in a stronger position.

I hurt it will dead lifting. Probably bad form since I was going for a PR. It was like 2 months ago. I've only been to a chiropractor since I dont have insurance. I doubt it is serious since it doesnt hurt unless I am working out. The chiropractor suggested I not workout for a few weeks. Im worked that it will never heal if I dont do something to strengthen the muscles again. I like the idea of back-loading only on the days I hit the other parts. Honestly, my BF is probably 5% too high for CBL so I dont mind doing CN for a while if my back will heal if I keep waiting.

Carlos22GuestI tried to do rack pulls with 225 and it hurt like hell. I used to DL 405 for 6 reps. Someone suggest I start with the bar and work my way up. Damn, I may have to do that if waiting doesn't help.

mwachtelParticipantsevere pain is not your body playing a sick joke on you. Its a purposeful signal, sent to your brain telling you, that your damaging your tissue, and you should stop.So I would rest it for awhile, do what you can weightlifting w/o causing severe pain to yourself. Discomfort is different than pain. I know its a pain in the ass. You sound like me exactly 1 year ago at this time. Hurt my back deadlifting, felt just like a herniated disc, I was very worried I would have to have surgery, and I wouldn't be able to do any lifting for weeks, or months. I delt w/ for a couple months, after awhile it become well frequent and severe, and now I wouldn't even know I had any back pain.just do what u can, nothing else you can do.

Well I Would Def Would Get That Checked Out When U Can Because It May Be More Severe Than Just A Pull. I Have Tweaked My Back When I First Started Deadlfting With A Str8 Back Now I Do Them Rounded Back And have No Issues But...JusT Wait A Few Weeks And Go From There. You Can Build A Great Back Without Heavy Deads Too So Dont Lose hope

Carlos22GuestCan it really be bad enough for a doc if I have no pain day to day? I just want to eat carbs without getting fat so I am ok with no having a big back.
