I am doing carb backloading and in order to get as much DHA and EPA as possible i've been eating fish for my first meal of the day. It is typically about 4 hours after waking and having some coffee with mct oil and whey isolate. Usually it's sardines, tuna or a salmon steakThe problem I see however is that because of the high protein content this may not be the best choice as it can spike insulin. Does anyone have any insight into this and how I can continue to eat fish while avoiding protein induced insulin spikes?
A good rule of thumb is 50% calories from fat. So roughly 1g of fat per 2g of protein.
Thank you, that is very helpfulDo you know if there is any difference between fats that may make one type better than another when pairing it with high protein foods? I know Medium chain triglycerides have several pathways in the body which makes them optimal. Are there any others that show particular strengths?

Monounsaturated fats are easier to store and slightly harder to burn>Excessive polyunsaturated fats can be bad for health.
