JizzmoGuestyoure not doing CARB BACKLOADING by having a smoothie for breakfast, a whole grain wrap later and an apple pre training.your diet has pretty much nothing to do with CBL.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorDo you have the book? If not you need to buy it.Pre-workout you want to avoid protein shakes, you want to eat protein and fat mostly from animal sources, you want to always stay below 30g of usable carbs.During the backload you want to use faster acting carbs, not complex carbs, so no oats, and really pasta isn't great either. You also would likely wont more carbs then that.

Lasse ElsbakParticipantFirst priority : get rid of the soy, and all carbs before your workout. Second : more, higher gi carbs after the workout.

leeGuestWill be ordering the book next month after pay day!! just a little worried about not eating fruit, thought cherries and blueberries would be ok as they are low gi!? and the pasta is gluten free but will change to white rice.So also change oats to ice cream? Having made good fat loss so far i hopefully will do much better with these changes.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorA little fruit during the ULC part of the day MIGHT be okay, it's just easy to go over your carbs.Pasta just wont raise insulin in the way we need to, at least not that well, ice cream is a much better option if you tolerate it.Any reason why you use protein powder rather then whole foods? You'll get much better results with whole foods like eggs, beef, and bacon.

leeGuestI use protein powder in the afternoon because whole foods make me feel sick when training! I will try to change and see what happens.I have to watch ice cream because of my lactose intolerance(which is not as bad on this diet!) I am worried that i will put fat on i'm 5.11 and 185lbs with about 13% bf

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorYou can use other foods, but it's always best to backload with foods the will quickly spike insulin.White foods, white bread, potatoes, rice, cookies, ice cream, pizza, burgers, you get the idea.If whole food makes you sick when training just make sure to have some time between eating them and training.Make sure you daily protein intake for the day is .8-1.3g per lb of bodyweight and during the ULC part of the day match fat and protein by the gram, during the backload don't worry about matching fat, but don't fear it.

Pretty much dead on.That first meal is just not good for CBL, your best bet is 1 tbsp of coconut oil and maybe 1 tbsp of cream in some coffee.

leeGuestThanks for the reply Big Tex,can you confirm breakfast meal?Is olive oil ok to use at lunch to get fat level up?20g of dextrose in pwo shake? Also on non training nights should i go with stake and veggies and no carbs? then still do the ice cream at 10.30?If i have lost 5% bf getting it wrong what the hell will happen when i get it right!!Thanks again to everyone
July 10, 2012 at 12:38 pm #61758
Trevor G FullbrightModeratorNone training night you don't eat carbs at all unless you are doing a density bulk.If you really would rather have a meal for breakfast instead of coffee with coconut oil, have some eggs and bacon.PWO shake it fine.Olive oil is okay, but not great. You want to base your fat intake around animal fats, so butter is your best bet to increase fat intake.
