randyleahyKeymasterI am far from an expert, I would just like to put my personal experience out there. I have been on these forums since pretty much the beginning, and have seen alot of “This isnt working” or “Its been 2 weeks and no changes' type threads. Alot of people transitioning to CN or CBL are probably coming from reduced calorie intake or another diet of some type. If I am ever going into a fat loss phase it is coming from a transition of 3500-5000 calorie eating for a prolonged period of time. It is not the diets fault which is based on hormonal manipulation to change body comp when you enter the diet with severely depressed thyroid function. I see alot of 1200-1400 kcal diets, keto no less, with a ton of interval cardio on this forum….yikers.

RussiBGuestGood point but looking at it the other way many people NEED guidance on this sort of diet because the book is now so horribly outdated that they come onto the forums and are simply flapping as hard as they can to keep up.Here's an example:My TARGET body weight is 180lbs. Working on a 0.5:1 ratio:180g protein x 4 (calories per gram of protein) = 72090g fat x 9 (calories per gram of fat) = 810810 + 720 = 1530 calories per day. Clearly a deficit. Would you suggest I go against pretty much every other piece of advice I ever see on DH?This is why people get so confused; there is an overwhelming amount of conflicting information because what works for one person does not necessarily work for another and judging changes over three months is against what we have been taught our entire lives - even in the marketing for CNS itself it talks about 'stripping' fat quickly. Sometimes it is a case of the blind leading the blind on these forums.

I notice this a lot. I feel like a lot of people that come here after long term dieting, low calories, lots of cardio, way more training then needed (crossfit, insanity, stuff like that) would be better off doing CBL with controlled calories and slowly work to raise the caloric intake and take a break from focusing on fat lose. I've had people do this and they end up being able to lose fat while eating more and then can really lose fat when they move back into a fatloss phase.

I agree as well. You do have to consider though that the forums are going to attract people that are struggling with the diet and the neurotic types that stress over every little thing.

Exactly... The forum is for people that are a little more out going to find answers to their questions.I think a lot of people are lucky in that the diet in it's simplest form works well for them, but as they approach lower body fat levels it becomes a game of trial and error, which is where all the questioning comes in. Some people aren't good at figuring things out themselves. Then they get frustrated and come to the forum...I mean hey, it's a lot easier to say CBL/CNS sucks or doesn't work then to spend months figuring out that cheese has been screwing you over the whole time. lol just my 2 cents. I can understand people's frustration.

randyleahyGuestI agree with all the points made here and it is awesome that people have some place to go to get questions answered. I guess it's just a mindset thing, doing this as a long term project to become lean, strong, and healthy and not freaking out with short term changes. Try+give time to assess+modify=Win!!!

Brandon D ChristParticipantThe people that criticize CBL/CNS the most are the people that never was on a standard bodybuilding diet. After years of chicken breast, tuna, and oatmeal, I have a deep appreciation for CBL. To be honest my results on CBL haven't been too much better than the standard BBer diet as far as fat loss goes (strength and muscle growth however REALLY improved when I started CBL), but I can enjoy eating now. I hated my diet before because the food sucked and I was always hungry. I am just happy how much easier and convenient CBL is.

I couldn't even think straight on those silly diets. Nightmare :/

John LaPlaca JrMemberI also wonder what their type of training is as well. When half the people I see in the gym daily half ass it or use half ass form. Not trying to be a dick but training like an old lady won't give anyone results no matter what diet you are on.

I wonder this and how well they adhere to the diets as well.

I also think people have unrealistic expectations when they start this diet. Today I am on it for 5 weeks to the date and I have had great results thus far. In the book Kiefer suggests 6 months which is what I am shooting for and either continuing it or moving on to CBL.

The book isn't horribly outdated, despite what some people on this forum claim. You can follow it to a tee and get pretty much the same results. THere is just little tid bits that the book doesn't have. I know Kiefer is working on getting Carb Backloading updated, but I am not sure about Carb Nite.

Honestly, for all the years I've trained I've never once considered a cutting diet before this one.. I too was confused at first after reading the book and came here to search out answers, which I found.. Unsure as to why Kiefer doesn't update the book, or send out promised updates, it is stored on his server as a PDF. I'd assume as a physicist he would be anal enough to want it right and not leave it as it is.. He knows his physics, but wonder how well he knows his business approach.. BodynsoilParticipantI know that opinion won't win me friends here but one reason I picked this board over renegade is that you have to pay an annual membership to the renegade forum, however ferruggia is responds directly to real time questions.. It's a give and take..Then again, you get what you pay for.. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
