janice garriganMemberHi allI have posted many times in the CNS threads and been quite grateful for your expert advice on this diet. I have seen pretty favorable results in a relatively short time on CNS but have some more fat to let go of. progress pics for just the three weeks are in my log..CN evolution. But I bought CBL because I love to work out (mosly want more cardio just cuz I LOVE it , and some more muscle because I love the way it looks) and am holding back on much working out on CNS, other than 3 times per week weights right now. I can be very strong in the weight room but not so much on CNS...it does mess with my strength and gains. So, I will read the book and see what I see. I'm not even gonna START asking questions before I read it (cuz that's annoying as hell, i'm sure) but I have a ton. Right now, just anyone who can share their experience with moving from CNS to CBL? Especially women cuz we're such a touchy breed when it comes to fat loss and muscle growth, two things we have to fight for much harder than the men we love :)!or if you can even point me to a female's log that you follow that you know did this progression from CNS to CBL? Or if you see the photos, help me know when it's time..ok, I said no questions. yikes. I liedthanks in advance

Something's wrong right there! Ick. Cardio. *wrinkles nose* not a fan. And you can do cardio (HIIT form) every day on Carb nite...

When you do start CBL I would keep in mind it is quite a bit different for women. Kiefer has mentioned ONE carby meal PWO. This is way different than the whole 6-8 hour feast we have on Carb Nite. I think he even mentions it in the CBL book himself come to think of it..I tend to think some women don't do so well on CBL simple because of over eating PWO. Especially coming off Carb Nite..Anyhow! I look forward to reading more about your transition! I'm going to be hopping on the CBLing train here once the new book is released. Oh fingers crossed its going to be either a Christmas Present or a New Years surprise! He keeps saying "Soon. Soon." Arg! Good luck!

janice garriganMemberthanks, Spatz, for heads up there…I actually WANT lower CNs …the 7 hours or so just seems like soooo much and I basically want ONE treat after a workout (treat meaning rice and chicken or even the cereal or whatever kinds of Carbs he says to back load) and more frequently than the massive 7 hour load. I don't even DO massive but it's kinda gross to me.Well see. I'm thinking of waiting til summer because I have it off and can really train hard, at any level I want and do the CBL protocol as written. If I remain on CNS during the school year and do CBL in summer that might be good. I can focus on it and get it under my control, then have at it. We'll see

Scope75GuestSpatz HIIT everyday on CNS isn't recommended at all. Now like Spatz said females have to keep the BLs small and cleaner to work. I'm not sure I'd really recommend CBL for a female until CBL 2.0 comes out. What I would suggest is doing a shorter 3-5hr CN every 4-5 days.

Wrong. 🙂 But its ok. At 0:25 he opens up the question "Can you do HIIT every night?" in regards to carb nite. Then he directly says at 0:59 "you can do HIIT every day of the week if you feel like it -until you feel like absolute dirt."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acBWvYRxgYgYou "May" be thinking of HIIT for men. Which is a good possibility. Also, that tubecast is a year old, if he has come out with something more recent saying he was wrong about HIIT and women, please point me in the right direction because I've been going off this the whole time.

Right before and right after he says this is the important part....He says women tend to hold onto glycogen stores so you can do HIIT until you feel like dirt. Which means until you have depleted glycogen. If your already depleting glycogen efficiently through weight training (or just natural depletion) doing HIIT everyday is not recommended at all.

Cbach, Scope had said "HIIT everyday on CNS isn't recommended at all." Well it IS recommended. Kiefer recommends HIIT for as many days as us women feel it is necessary. He even says every day of the week if necessary. I understand the whole "If necessary" part but its still recommended. And I think SolutionSeeker will know when she's totally gassed. HIIT does that fairly quickly..

Because it seems CBL is hard for most females, and a short CN every 4/5 days seems like it would be easier to follow and mod for better results.

I suppose your right. I think it depends on goals. If you are purely aesthetic (most women are) then CN is the way to go I think.

Your right Spatz. I scrambled it in my head and yes HIIT could be done everyday on CNS if you don't feel like dirt but I don't see anyone being able to do full clip hiit everyday on CNS. And I guess if you start out at 6-10rnds that doesn't mean you can't just do 2-3rnds later in the week and that's still HIIT.

And what I get from the op is she just wants to drop a few pounds and "tone up" so a modded CNS approach seems like the best solution.

I'd agree. When I first read all this my thought was it depends on the mindset of the person. If the woman views herself fully as an athlete and her goal is to be a better athlete then CBL is best I feel, but if it's mostly about looking a particular way, CNS or a modified version would be best.

CBachelor17MemberThe feeling like dirt is the depleted part of it-Meaning its recommended for those who rant depleting fast enough which Keifer suggests most women don't. I only chimed in to say that because if you hit a wall and are feeling depleted adding HIIT isn't necessary. Esp for those females who are weight training throughout the week. So long as those weights are heavy theres no way you rant being depleted. Remember that CNS was not build for those who are weight training so this HIIT suggestion is likely being suggested toward the average person who is simply dieting w/Cardio in order to loose fat.

GnomerParticipantI do a mod of CN. I have CN every 5 days and most of the time they are smaller than when I have them every 7 days. I lift heavy for me 4 to 5 days a week and do other classes the other days. I felt my lifting was hitting a HUGE wall so I have added a small carb meal before my workout to help me make it through my lifting. My goals might be a little different because gaining the strength and muscle come before the fat loss to me.
