BigginsKeymasterWell I had originally been on Carb Backloading for a few weeks thinking I'd be competing this year but I finally decided to take this semester off and have decided to drop a weight class for next year. So a little about myself I'm 20 years old, I powerlift at Texas Tech University. I weighed in today at 299.4lbs at 5'9 pretty light for me since i haven't been lifting or eating like I usually do in season. My goal is to be in the weight class below mine, which is between 242.51 – 275.50. I'm hoping reach this goal by December. I'm open to any advice or feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.Yesterdays workout was pretty bad. Started my day off with a thermogenic and a cup of cofee with some eggs and sausage. Workout shoulders 4 sets of seated barbell press, then 4 sets of shoulder circuts, 4 sets of upright rows, and 4 sets of traps. After that I went and ran one lap then jogged the curves and ran the straights twice around. I was dead.Today I thought I'd take it easy on myself and decided to workout arms and calves. I felt even more dead than yesterday. The caffeine really got to me today, felt extremely nauseous. I did 3 different workouts for bi's and tri's 4 sets each, and did 4 sets of calves. Then went and ran 2 laps and did 3 sets till failure of abs. I about puked on my ride home. Just ate 2 chicken breasts and a bunch of green beans. Feeling great now!

Lesli BortzParticipantI can't advise on the cardio – I'm still avoiding it like the plague.I think CNS is the perfect route to get your weight down without losing muscle/strength. As long as a bunch of green beans is within the carb limit I don't see an issue but that was a very small glimpse into your daily nutrition. I'd also suggest red meat unless you supplemented your chicken with some type of fat. But still I'd recommend fatty beef and bacon. You don't really have to kill yourself on CNS - or CBL for that matter - so I'd pay attention to your body. If you're feeling sick/exhausted then something's not right.

BigginsGuestWell as far as the cardio goes, I have a very slow metabolism but I don't go crazy with it I usually either jog a couple laps or just sprint the straights a couple times. I don't spend longer than 10-15min running if that. And Ya I know I need the a lot of fatty beef and steaks I'm just a poor college kid though and all I have in my freezer is chicken, and tilapia lol. But Once I get my next pay check and take of my bills i'll definitely stock up on my meats. As far my daily nutrition goes Its anywhere between 3-8 eggs in the morning with some sausage depending on how i'm feeling. My thermo, and 1-2 cups of coffee. Then its chicken/fish and veggies the rest of the day. I can't really supplement protien right now since the only one I have is a gainer with a lot of carbs. And I know for sure I'm not eating enough but schedule is a little hectic with me working till 3am every night plus school during the day and i'm low on cash at the moment. Thanks for the advice!

BigginsGuestLast time I check my BF% it was like 25%, really high, but to be honest I'd never really cared that much about that.

Lesli BortzParticipantSupplement your chicken with fat somehow…fish oil? coconut oil? butter! There has to be an inexpensive way to do it.

Jacqui DBMemberIf you're on a tight budget I highly recommend getting a slow-cooker. You can get a basic version super cheap (mine just has off/low/high settings on one switch) and it is the easiest way to make the really cheap cuts of meat super tasty. You can pick up things like pork hock, feet, pork cheeks (chaps), brisket, beef tongue, oxtail etc really cheap and just stick them in the pot with some spices. Makes great food that fits the ratios nicely. Also chicken thighs and wings come pretty cheap too.

BigginsGuestwell I get paid tomorrow so i'll be able to stock up on steaks and fattier meat but that's a good idea I hadn't thought of that, Thanks!

RoadblockParticipantFry up bacon and use the fat to augment other meats like the fish or chicken breast. Butter is good too. The only reason I asked about BF % is because your lean muscle mass will determine your BMR. If you have a good work ethic in the gym I would try CBL and DB. Keep your loads to 2 meals every workout night and try and aim for a total of about 400g. Then see how it goes after about a week.RB

BigginsGuestwell I was on CBL but i wasn't training hard enough, in my mind, to continue with it. My schedule is just too crazy some days and I have to find another way to motivate myself since I'm not competing this year. That's why i switched to CNS. This is pretty much the first legit diet i've done ever. I Usually don't car about my weight cuz I was SHW competitor and just ate whatever whenever. So this is a little different for me lol

Not thinking about it, and sticking through it.

You control what your hand puts in your mouth. Drink lots of water...RB

Lesli BortzParticipantAs for cravings – I think it's more mental than physical. Doesn't mean it's not difficult though. It does get better with CNS and I find it easier with 1-2 CN per week than having it 4-6 times.
