KRISTA.RNKeymasterFirst of all, I had my first Carb Nite. Sushi, then Krispy Kreme Donuts, then a piece of cheesecake. Oh my God, I was in friggen bliss. Here are the facts:38 y/o female, my gym is a crossfit gym. We have *zero* machines.I have a goal of wanting to lose 10 pounds of fat. I am not limiting gains for muscle mass. I'm a girl. I'll never be huge.Last weight (without BF, bone density, and lean mass calculations) was 142.I have just completed my first round of "reorientation," for which I was able to muster three workouts during that time. I felt like ass on the first and last days. No energy, just wanted to rest, and complete brain fog. Coffee and coconut oil could not rescue me. I am missing the gym time 🙁 but I felt like I just couldn't do anymore. I'm expecting this will go away as my body adjusts.I DON'T WANT TO WASTE TIME giving up foods and make small mistakes that sabotage results. So the next step would be managing fat/protein intake.I do not do PWO shakes. I do not use sugar alcohols.Confirm with me:*Does fat and protein need to be on a 1:1 ratio? (and do workouts change this ratio?)*Does my current weight depend on how much I eat of each of these?*Should I do PWO shakes?*I thought sugar alcohols were verboten... so why Splenda use in some of the recipes in the book? How much is okay in a day? I use stevia extract with 0 carbs. If anyone can answer any of these questions, even if you don't know the answer to all of them, that would be GREATLY appreciated.

maxwkwMember1. Yes, keep fat and protein equal by gram. If anything have more fat than protein. Exercise doesn't change this. 2. You could have a post workout shake. I'd try it and see if it makes a difference.3. Splenda is not a sugar alcohol. It's an artificial sweetener that isn't digested at all. I wouldn't worry about how much you're using unless it seems like a ridiculous amount.

Big_RParticipantWow. Thanks for the response.
Just wanted to say that pwo shakes are essential to halting catabolism. You should be wanting to maintain a much lean body tissue as possible. i would say it's part of the "fundamentals" or basics of training..... A must!

KRISTA.RNGuestI will do PWO shakes then. I bought the stuff. Whey isolate powder, unsweetened. Stevia. Maybe milk or half and half. Unless you suggest otherwise.

maxwkwMemberFor post workout just do it in water. You might want to pick up some leucine and creatine as well.

KRISTA.RNGuestThanks for the suggestions.I'll do a PWO on workout days, 1 scoop of the whey isolate, trueleaf stevia, and a little almond milk thrown in (watching my carbs militantly). Thanks for your suggestions.
