NYStinkfistKeymasterQuestion: What time should my dinner / first carb meal of the day be at if I start training somewhere between 8pm-9pm? Correct me if I am wrong but when training this late I want to have my dinner before my workout so the carbs will release evenly until I start lifting then they will be depleted/used? Then have some carbs a half hour after my workout to spike levels.I usually wake up at 8-830 am and have some black coffee then eat breakfast at about noonish. For breakfast I eat three eggs and about four or five slices of bacon. It says in the sample meal plans in the back of the book that I should then have a lunch, (1lb of meat and 2 cups of broccoli and 1 slice of cheese), which i could eat probably about 3ish, but then to have a snack!!! Im not hungry for the snack at all! I have been eating dinner at 6pm everynight then starting to train between said hours. Help/insights/comments please

bigpapamartyGuestI'd like some insight into this as well. I typically train ~4pm for BB routines, but have started O-lifts at 8 pm once a week. I wonder how detrimental it would be to my hormone rhythms to have something a little slower digesting around 6 (preworkout) like oatmeal. The last thing I need is a blood sugar crashe when I'm trying to hit doubles and singles.

PhattyMemberAre you doing density bulking or strength accumulation? For the latter, skip the carbs until PWO.

Yes. Also, what time do you go to sleep? If you have enough time between finishing training and going sleep then you can do it exactly as it's laid out in the book, just adapted to your training/sleep scheduleGenerall,y if you're bulking you're eating a lot more food so starting to eat carbs from 6pm makes it easier to cram them all in comfortably while still benefiting from insulin resistance.

NYStinkfistGuestWell I was going to bed at around 11ish everynight. And squeezing in a bowl of oatmeal before I went.

For that, I think the book recommends having a lot of carbs in the PWO shake (100g or so) and then one carb meal before going to bed.I wasn't too thorough when I read that section though so you might wanna check it.
