MikeScienceKeymasterIf my primary goal is Fat Loss, and I am training in the AM with a 3-4 day split. In what ways could I tailor CBL to strictly burn fat while maintaining muscle?

troypulkParticipantYou could switch over to Carb Nite using this page as a guide.http://www.dangerouslyhardcore.com/2113/carb-nite-how-you-can-and-should-get-stronger/

MikeScienceGuestMy problem with Carb Nite is its too restrictive. 30 grams for the whole day. Unfortunately I live in a house full of carbs (because that's what my parents eat) It's very difficult to adhere and also my energy levels just wont be as high as I like to train 4 days a week early morning fasted.

MikehrMemberI train 10-11 times a week ULC and do just dine, once you veddy gets used to burning fats for fuel youll be fine

Richard SchmittModeratorCan't you NOT eat the carbs? I have carbs laid out all around the house and never touched.

+1plus, you don't NEED carbs for energy. I have had my best workouts WITHOUT carbs all day. Actually, I have had my best workouts fasted!

Same here! I enjoy working out in the mornings with nothing but motivation and caffeine haha. Even on the day of my CN, no carbs just a good amount of protein with some fats, and Deadlift till I pass out ;D

absolutely.if you can't control yourself with carbs, then maybe doing CN isn't a great idea because come that night, or even a CBL night, you're going to go nuts (or so it sounds). could get you into some trouble!

That's the problem, binging or losing control of oneself WILL ONLY SET THEMSELVES BACK. With any diet or any nutrition/training lifestyle needs discipline and the mental willpower to overcome minor set-backs like "carbs"

Cory McCarthyMemberYeah, I lift 3 days a week, and do full-contact martial arts 3 additional days per week, and HIIT cardio (sprints) on the 7th day (directly after my CN). I have no issues being ULC. If it is a matter of being in the vicinity of carbs (i.e., temptation), just fight it. That's more a matter of self-control. Because, no matter what diet you're on, life / people will go on around you. Your diet and goals are about you, not them.I am always attending parties (by obligation) for this or that (incl. professional reasons), and I am around all sorts of shitty food at said events. I either pack my own shit, or eat before, b/c I got three social strikes against me: 1. Using CNS (ULC 6 days a week), 2. Vegetarian, and 3. Currently gluten-free (when I do consume carbs).Cory

This!Fats should be providing you energy, if you are doing the diet correctly. This is especially true of MCTs (like coconut oil).Cory

MikeScienceGuestYou guys make good points. What are some quick snacks that would qualify as ULC. I am a full-time student and I work 2 jobs so I am not home often

MikeScienceGuestAlso, I think my compliance on CBL is better than CNS, which is why I wanted to mod it slightly to favor more fat loss.
