I was reading bodybuilding.com earlier today, and there was this “12 laws of lean” on there in which the person suggested an all liquid diet except one meal a day.  Now, this person is clearly being funded by the lovely people over at Met-Rx, so I'm sure he's being handsomely paid to say he does an all liquid diet.  But, I got to thinking, what would the implications of doing all liquid and one solid food meal a day be for a ULC type person?  Can someone think of a reason why you couldn't drink egg whites and whey with a fat source and some spinach or greens powder several times a day and have one meal of whatever protein/fat combo you wanted?  I personally think the leucine insulin spike issue is almost a non-issue for the most part, so let's keep that out of the conversation.  I'm not necessarily saying I would do a diet like this, but there have been some times in my life where the thought of eating another piece of chicken made me nauseous.  I however would have taken no issue in drinking my meals at that point.  Curious to hear people's thoughts on this.

That's honestly close to what I do. I have a BP coffee in the morning and maybe a second mid afternoon, then one whole food fat/protein/veg meal at night.

I'm a Bulletproof Coffee kinda guy too.  How many calories is the last meal generally?  Pretty large amount or do you keep it moderate?

Right on.  I suppose by that time of night you'd be pretty well starved anyway.  What time of day do you usually train?

Actually, I could normally totally skip eating if I've had the coffee. Keeping with pure fat will tank appetite.I normally train both in the morning and at night, but in most cases while ULC if I train it's pretty late at night, around 8-9.

I agree.  I've done some very long fasts with the coffee.  They are very filling.  However, I'm curious about the original question.  Bulletproof Coffee maybe once, or not at all, then 2-3 "smoothies" mainly fat and protein based and one regular solid meal a day.

With the protein in them, it would cause some slight blood sugar issues, plus being liquid it wouldn't be very satiating, so it would make you very hungry. It would work, but it would be harder then it has to be.

Well, as we've already discussed, the Bulletproof Coffee is very satiating.  And while I don't make these often, if I'm in a hurry and need to get some nutrition, I make a shake that's something like this:8oz drinkable egg whites10g vanilla/chocolate whey isolate (more for flavor than anything)1 tablespoon coconut oil1 tablespoon natural PB2 tablespoons flax/chia seedAmazing Grass superfood powder2 handfuls spinach

500 calories, 28g fat 46g protein, 5-6 usable carbsI've never been one to have real issues with hunger, but I've always found this satisfying.  Fat, protein, fiber, minimal carbs.
