I don't know why I didn't stop to think that we have an ice cream maker. What do you think of this?Ice Cream made from:Skim Milk or Non-Dairy Creamer (fat-free) - debating which would result in a creamier ice cream, maybe 1 or 2% milk?Overly Ripe BananasSome dark chocolateSweetened with DextroseWhat do you guys think?

Question, What is Rebound Hyperglycemia and why is it the devil all the sudden? Just curious as my CNs generally are about 150P 475C and <20F and Ive never had any issues.

You have a much cleaner carb nite than most people.  have some fun with it.  If you are bloating and not getting great results from all the white rice and angel food and sweet potatoes, use some pastries or gluten free cookies

HYPOglycemia. LOW blood sugar... Doesn't happen to everyone, but consuming a bunch of carbs when normally ULC like that can ultimately end in all the carbs being shuttled into tissues and plummeting your blood sugar in the middle of the night while you're sleeping. Thus, you'll suddenly wake feeling like utter crap. I think you're just one of the people it doesn't happen to 🙂

I haven't ever had this happen to me, but I'm all about the ice cream at the end of my CN. However I was just talking with a gentleman on one of the FB groups who just experienced what I think was rebound hypoglycemia. He ate a lot of fruit in his CN to try to hit his insulin spikes (tsk tsk) and there was very very little fat. (He is gluten and dairy free, so he didn't think to put fat in there) He woke at around 2am feeling like sh*t. Other than him, I haven't really heard much of it.

Ohh I see so the fat is supposed to slow the digestion of your carbs so it “slowly” gets shuttled into tissues? Im going to be honest I wake up in the middle of the night on my CN, and every night to use the restroom, but some of my CN's ive had lucid, odd ass dreams and when I wake up to use the restroom I have a discomforting, “emotional” type feeling. I have associated it with the dreams I always have on CN (because its my best nights sleep) haha. Could this be this “Rebound Hyperglycemia.” I guess im more asking for a better depiction of what “Feeling like shit” is. I mean I feel like shit when I wake up too. I feel like shit when I have the flu, or when Im sore AF from yesterdays workout. So is it a mental thing, physical pain? Sorry for the long post but its definitely something I want clarification on so I can correct the issue if need me. Thanks for understanding and replies!

Quite honestly, I'm not sure the actual mechanics of it. I think it's more a case of having readily available energy to switch to (dietary fat) when the blood sugar plummets. Whereas there could be a lag time between the blood sugar crash and the body realizing it, then having to mobilize and begin using body fat, thus resulting in a shitty feeling. Those feelings would be things like the shakes, sweats, head ache, dizziness, light headedness, etc.I'm not affected by this either, but I just really enjoy fat in the last meal (like ice cream or buttery cookies etc), and there's no real downside to it.Lastly, it's hypOglycemia, not hypERglycemia. I make this distinction only cuz it'd be important if you went searching the net for information. Hypo = low, hyper = too high. 🙂

Interesting. I get up every night to use the bathroom too, but I don't act like that, ha.It's an easy experiment though; try throwing a chunk of fat into your last CN meal on your next CN and see what happens that night! (I like to pour coconut cream concentrate, coconut milk, almond butter, or even coconut butter over whatever "treat" type item I'm having in my last meal.)

Actually, you will probably see my Log/Discussion Thread tonight or tomorrow evening in CBL Member Forums. I think my last CN was my last CN. CBL transition time!

I pretty new Carb Nite-ing.  I had my first carb nite last night.  During my regular days I eat low carb.  Keeping my carbs to 20g.  Instead of the 30g Kiefer suggests.  I was already a low-carber and use to it.  I didn't have to count calories really because fat is satisfying.  So I would have bacon and eggs and avocadoes and fat.  I don't get it why I'm reading how so many here in the forum are meticulously counting fat calories during the non-carb nites.  Aren't we supposed to counting carbs?  I thought it was correct to eat high fat/protein and low carbs.  If you're eating low carbs and low fat, isn't that a different diet and not CNS?

I haven't seen that… a lot of us do count our macros though not to keep the fats low. I watch my macros on my ULC days to make sure I am getting a high enough fat to protein ratio, for some reason my protein always tries to climb higher than it should and I like to know how much more fat I need to eat. Perhaps you've been seeing that? Its definitely not recommended to eat low fat and low carbs, you need that fat to stay healthy!Omnomnomnom, animal fats...Some people count calories but I'm not one of them. I don't want any more numbers to pay attention to!
