JayjayKeymasterYo guys, would really appreciate if you could take a look on a typical backload-day of mine.Meal 1: 2 Cups of Coffee, 2tbsp. heavy creamMeal 2: 3 whole eggs, 2-3 egg whites, ground beef, bacon, lettuce, coconut oilMeal 3: Chicken, bacon, coconut oil, some brazilian nutsPre-workout: 10g Whey, 5g creatin, caffeinePost-workout: 20-30g Whey, 1 Banana, 1 Spoon Dextrose (~10g), 5g creatin, caffeineMeal 4: 100g White rice, chicken, some veggiesMeal 5: 300g Sweet potatoes, 3 whole eggs, 3 egg whitesMeal 6: 100g oats, whey, 30-50g nut butters (porridge)As you can see, i´m more of a clean-food fan. I do NOT eat brown rice, whole grain bread etc. That´s not what i mean with clean. I rely on white rice, sweet potatoes and cooked oats. Are cooked oats high enough in GI or should i add some dextrose/another banan etc.?How does the regimen look like all together? This backload has ~280g carbsThanks!

Peter HuntParticipantYou'd be better off with instant oats, normal oats could keep your insulin levels high for too long and disrupt growth hormone release overnight.

atomicusMemberI get the logic behind the no oats thing, but I'm baffled by the fact when I read interviews with actors and cover models about how they got their 'ripped' bodies, oats seem to form an essential element of that regimen, with many eating them at night. Unless it is always just instant oats, but still, given how much the CBL community and Kiefer himself say they have little to no part in CBL, I do wonder sometimes. Even more confusing is how many seem to have them in the morning which totally flies in the face of CBL obviously. 😮

And how many of them have had help along the way with Vitamin S or HGH lol.I've seen some of the hollywood diets and there's no way they were eating protein bars(really shitty one's too) and getting in the shape they did.

JayjayGuestthanks guys!that´s why i try to increase the GI of the oats by cooking them and adding 1-2 Spoons of dextrose or adding a ripe banana.I think porridge isn´t that well to do with instant oats? Thanks again!

Get rid of the oats 100% unless it is instant oats with sugar. Kiefer can't stress it enough to backload with low gi carbs. I bought a low gi almond ice cream a few weeks ago and I didn't notice it at the time. I was going to make a milk shake with it including dextrose and whey. I just gave it to my sister because I don't see the point of trying to do anything he doesn't recommend. He recommends and stresses certain points for a reason.

JayjayGuestThanks!I have Instant oats here. But they do not contain sugar?! They immidiately mix up with water, but as i said, no sugar contained (i don´t live in the US, so we probably have different types)And what would be the difference between Instant Oats (with sugar) and cooked oats (porridge) with added dextrose...?

I don't deny that happens, I know it does, but that's certainly not the case for EVERYONE who eats oats in this fashion lol! ;D

This is what I'm wondering...Why can't I just cook oats and add dextrose and maple syrup to it?I don't get the difference.

atomicusMemberAs far as I'm aware, INSTANT oats are OK when it comes to CBL, as they are more quickly digested. The rolled oats aren't so great, apparently. But as I queried above, given so many people take them with apparently good results, I find the fact CBL discourages them so readily somewhat perplexing, even though I do understand the whole high GI/insulin spike thing. Ultimately, there's more than one way to skin a cat, plus everyone is different in how they respond to food/exercise. CBL hardly invented the ability to get a great physique after all, even if some people have used variations of it over the years without realising. But clearly it would be utterly absurd to suggest that if you're not doing CBL, you MUST be on steroids or HGH in order to get big and lean! 😉

I knew someone who was backloading with whole grain bread, old fashion oats, and granola. Guess what? They got fat and had shitty results. I don't see why people try to go against this diet, especially the portion of the diet guidelines that he stresses should be avoided. It is a still a slow digesting carb and has a high amount of fiber. I don't know why you would want to sabotage your results. If you want "healthier" dirty carbs than stick with white rices and potatoes.

Yea, but there is a fine line here. I just want a bowl of oatmeal with dextrose/maple syrup on some of the days when I'm craving it. If I eat that sparingly and the rest of my carb sources at night are white rice and potatoes, I don't see the problem. And I still don't get the difference between instant oatmeal and oatmeal with added dextrose to it.

Not trying to be a dick dude but clearly you are going to do what you want to do. I just don't understand why anyone would DO what the man who wrote the book stresses NOT to do. He stresses it in the book, youtube videos, and in a few podcasts. One Podcast it was pretty funny he was making fun of one of his friends for wanting oats still lol.
