Brandon D ChristParticipantSomething that has recently come to light for me has been the absorption percentage of multi's.I'm taking GNC Mega Men's Sport right now (have been for a few years), and I can only tell a difference when I haven't taken it in over a week.I did find one though, at a local vitamin shop that is in powder form. It has all the same vitamins and nutrients as my GNC, but it has no carbs, no sugars, and it's cheaper. I think I'll be switching to it soon. http://nuteknutrition.com/nutek/products/vitamins/natures-fuel
I'm not trying to be jerk, I am just curious: what differences do you notice when you stop taking them?

GroogruxGuestHonestly? General sluggishness and paler skin. The skin pigment, I can live with, but the sluggishness was what got me. The first time it happened, I wasn't sure what caused it. I repeated it a couple more times, the second was just another scenario of forgetting to/not caring about taking them. The third was experimental. Results were always the same.Ibob, I know you talk a lot about not needing them, and that we should have a better diet where we eat foods with the vitamins and nutrients we need. However, I will point out that not all people have access to these kinds of foods. For instance, I'm land-locked in Kentucky, so I don't have access to lots of fresh fish (with essential Omega-3 oils). It's unsafe here to consume fresh-caught local fish (on a regular basis) because of all the pollution in the lakes and streams. Wild game isn't legal to hunt at all times either. When it comes to produce, I love my farmers markets here, but quality food isn't always in season. Ect.This is a problem for a lot of Americans, in that we just don't have enough access to quality foods. That's why I'm happy to take a multi. Plus, on CNS there are a lot of vitamins and nutrients essential to quality health that we don't consume because of high-carb counts.

Brandon D ChristParticipantThat's very interesting. By the way I do not shop at farmer's markets or anything. Everything I buy from the grocery store except my grassfed beef! However, you can buy some really high quality wild salmon at Sam's Club (Copper River is the brand), a little expensive at $10/lb, but nothing out of this world. Also if you do go deer hunting, the meat will last you a few months. You can also buy fish oil. If live near a Walmart, you can have a healthy diet.My main issue with multis aren't that you don't need them, the absorption and utilization of them are typically very poor. Also when you are on a low carb diet, your micronutrient needs change a lot. For instance you need very little Vitamin C if you are on a low carb diet.

GroogruxGuestI REALLY want to get in on a beef share as soon as my tax money/school loans come back.As for groceries in this area, it's all Walmart and Kroger here, although I have found a couple of smaller places that at least do their own cuts of meat. I was tempted to buy some salmon the other day at Kroger, but when I asked them where it came from and whether it was farmed or wild-caught, they weren't sure. I ended up passing on it.I understand your issues with absorption and utilization on multi's for sure. That's why I'm switching to this powder form, because it has a 99% absorption rate. Tablet form multi's only get 10-15%.

Brandon D ChristParticipantHere's a tip for salmon. If it is wild, they will advertise it typically. If you want to be even more sure, look at the ingredients. If there is any type of dye, that means it's farmed. Farmed salmon has to be dyed because they are very unhealthy.

I just don't think it does anything. It's fine to take if you want to.

Go HeavyParticipantI don't think it does either.

GroogruxGuestIn the world of tablet form multi's, it's not the best, but if it's all you have access to (either by region or finances) then I would go for it.
