So i recently just got into carb backloading a couple days ago and as great as it sounds im not fully sold on it. Here are my main worries bout it1. How is it healthy to get rid of fruits like apples, pears, oranges etc. and getnrid of brown rice and oats. Those things are good for u as they have fiber, and other nutrients2. when eating all those sugars and junk food at nite, dont u have a risk of diabetes, your blood sugar levles and insulin spike when u eat junk food, not to mentions junk food is called junk food for a reason, theres all kinds of chemicals/preservatives in the food ur stuffing ur face with3. How the hell do u not count/track calories  >:( in order to build muscle u must create a calorie surplus, therefore u need to kno how many calories ur taking it in order to build muscle and not get fat which brings me to my next point4. There has to be a limit on the junk food u eat at nite, wont those excess calories 1. create a huge insulin spike which interfers with growth hormone, the most important thing u need to build muscle! (growth hormone and insulin cannot coexist btw) 2.be stored as fat as your body wont need to burn it bc ur resting and not doing anythingIt wud be much appreciated if u guys cud answer my concerns

The first thing I'll ask is have you read that book? Some of the answers you want are in the book and I recommend reading it if you want to get the most out of backloading.Diabetes is partly caused by chronically raised insulin levels, not punctuated spikes like we use.Fruit is greatly overrated for health, so is fiber.

    1.  There is nothing in fruits you can't get from vegetables.  No, you do not need that much fiber (you can get fiber from vegetables anyways).  High fiber diets are a very recent concept.  There is no reason to consume brown rice and oats.2.  Diabetes occurs when you develop insulin resistance to the point that you can't clear blood sugar anymore.  If you are lifting weights, it is very unlikely you will develop diabetes.  When you backload, your muscles will be very insulin sensitive and will be able to clear blood sugar easily, unlike a standard diet where you try to clear blood sugar when fat cells are insulin sensitive.  You don't have to consume junk anyways, you can have potatoes, sweet potatoes, and white rice for example.3.  Simple.  You don't count.  CBL is designed to make your body very inefficient therefore you can consume a lot of calories and not gain bodyfat due to insulin levels being low all the time.  The only time insulin is elevated is post workout where muscles will get all the growth signals they need to grow.4.  There is a limit to how much food you can eat.  There is a chart in the book that gives you those limits.  Also, the whole point of the high glycemic carbs (what you call junk) is unlike oats and brown rice, the insulin levels drop very quickly after you go to bed, thus allowing GH to be released.  If you were to consume oats and brown rice, GH couldn't be released due to insulin levels being raised for hours.

Not trying to gang up on you, but I feel like you didn't read the book. Basically, everything you are “not sold on” is everything about the diet which makes me curious as to why you would even bother trying it……P.S. I'm am a little surprised you didn't ask how we plan on still living after eating this much bacon and saturated fats.....

If mainstream nutrition advice were correct, this entire forum would've simultaneously gotten diabetes and a heart attack long ago and we'd all be dead. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2

To be honest, I think the OP was trolling.  He probably wanted to get us riled up.

I think a good level of skepticism is warranted in anything, but I wish the OP would have taken some topics that are a little farther from what could simply be answered in the book.  It does seem quite far fetched to the average person when you try to explain the principles, even though the overall concept is quite simple.  Understanding the why and how it's not going to kill you after so many years of thinking one way and then having it turned around almost seems like blasphemy.  Look at it like this if someone found proof of extraterrestrials how would the world's religions react (in general)?  Denial, anger, rioting, etc.  Same principle.
