Hey guys and gals, Im a 33 year old guy from Canada. Recent stay at home daddy to the cutest kid in the world, thats now 5 months old. Since I stay at home with her, I have decided during her nap times i will be focusing on something I have been neglecting for a few years, my body. Im a fairly active guy. I train mma (BJJ, and MT kickboxing) in my spare time, as well as I go to university part time, and run a business part time. I never have been good with watching how I eat. Ive always been in pretty good shape and back in 2008 I tore my acl and mcl while working in the oil field in northern Alberta. I proceded to gain too many extra pounds coming to an all time high in weight. I tried this and that and dropped a few lbs here and there (contrary to popular belief, calorie counting worked amazing for me... till I plateaued) Then I was stuck. What brought me here and to read the CBL, and CNS books, is being skeptical. A friend of mine told me about these diets, and I couldnt help but laugh my ass off at him, the thought of pounding carbs back seemed so far off to me. He followed the CBL preparation phase till he was down to 160lbs (from 200) and I stopped laughing. Borrowed the books and decided to give it a shot. I didnt (and still dont) get everything about this diet. I probably have my fat-protein ratios a bit off. For the last month before I found these forums I have been doing a carb day instead of a carb night (was following advice from my friend, before I actually read the books) among other things i didnt really get till I read the books. Enough blabbing though as i have read and read many posts on these forums so far, and am excited to have found a place where I can read about, and interact with others that are following this diet.
