RoadblockParticipantGood day to all on the forums. I am a 38 year old guy, and started working out for football when I was 16. I was always a fat kid but gained muscle easily but had trouble getting my metabolism to kick up. Went on my own low carb plan I formulated from a ton a reading and based losely on the Atkins plan about 12 years ago and lost 120lbs in about a year. Was 240 with a 36″ waist so I looked decent, at least better than I ever did before. That lasted for about 3 years until I got married and started my family. Last year, and 4 kids later I was 376lbs and said “Holy Shit”! Hit the gym again and started a new low carb plan based on what I did before and a ton more reading and am now back down to a 38″ waist but am stuck at 255 – 260lbs. It seems like it is all hanging around my waist now but my weight has been at a plateau for about 4 months so I started looking around and found CBL. I am absolutely no stranger to following a low carb protocol so I figured it was only a few minor changes and why not give it a try. Bought the book and now am starting day 2 of the prep phase.Wish me luck!RB

Since my problem mostly lies in my lack of metabolism the goal I have been chasing is gaining lean muscle mass. The more muscle mass you carry the more calories you burn. I have been successful with this strategy so far.RB

Couldn't agree more, building a good muscle base makes burning fat much easier

RoadblockParticipantI know I should probably start new threads but my thoughts are so random. I workout Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and have a pretty busy life. I work a 1hr drive from home and have 4 kids. anyway, to cut to the chase, the hardest part for me during the last year of ULC was always cooking nice dinners for the family and not being able to eat half of it. It's always been easier for me to avoid the carbs by just not having them around, but it was always hardest to cook a pie, cut the apples and all, then not eat any. Or make frnch fries in the fryer, cut the potatoes, then not eat them. I got over it and lost the weight so that was that. Now on to my random thought. Weekends are family time obviously so we socialize alot and spend alot of time focusing on the kids. I am seriously thinking about adding a workout on Saturdays just so I can have a normal meal with the family 😀 . Is that weird?RB
