vandelay87MemberHey another newbie “old” (43) guy here….I was going to title my post "Abs by 45" as that would also be a goal of mine. So I'm new to CBL. Been doing Paleo-ish nutition and CrossFit-ish and or Chad Waterbury-esque training routines for the past 3 years which has resulted in about 45 lbs of fat loss (from 245 down to 200). I'm now in better shape than when I was 23! ...but I want more. Been kind of a gym hack since the ol Body for Life days but keeping the fat off has always been the key challenge. Lately I've tried to really dial in the diet and do even more WODs, which has resulted in an injury (golfer's elbow). Too many cleans/pushups/pullups/dumbbell snatches or some combo thereof over the past few weeks. To add
insultinjury to injury I also recently landed a high ankle sprain doing pickup hoops. So I'm a bit limited in the gym right now and have to get creative. Hello Squats, hello deadlifts. Also I seem to have lost my "pump" as now I'm starting to look a bit more skinny-fat in the mirror. Heard Kiefer on Robb Wolf's podcast recently which led me here as well as to the CBL book. So now I'm almost done with day SIX of the Prep phase. I was on the fence about doing CN or CBL since losing fat has always been the priority. However, i also feel like I've reached a floor for fat loss so I need to jump start things and try something a little different. I'm already a little skeptical of ingesting carbs at that rate so I'm going to try and not go absolutely hog wild. I may end up doing CN if the body comp is going in the wrong direction after a few weeks. But I think the allowed "cheats" will help me deal with the mental deprivation cycle that I frequently find myself in doing strict paleo. Been learning tons already from everyone so thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge. Just ordered my custom protein mix from TN today. Looking forward to it!December 7, 2012 at 7:24 am #121413
