MurphTPSKeymasterOK, I've read the book twice and I'm doing SAI'm 270 and want to be between 273-275 for my weight class. As I understand it, I need about 900 grams of carbs for my back load according to the charts in the book. Am I correct, and if so, how on earth do I get 900 grams of carbs between 7:00pm and 11:00 pm. As of now, I'm at around 400.I have a shake with 50 gr carb powder and a PBJ 1 hour post workout and another 30 minutes later. When I get home from work (training clients ) about 9:00pm I have a few sweet potatoes the size of my head with some chicken, and about an hour later, about a half box of cereal with Blend H, which tastes like puke.I cannot force any ore food down my hole.Any suggestions, and am I reading the chart wrong?Murph

Richard SchmittModeratorNo you're doing good, the 900g is a max limit, you have to find your sweet spot since I'm sure you're back loading after every training session. By the way, Blend D can be ideal for a protein replacement for your cereal.

MurphTPSGuestI'm using the cereal as shitty carbs. Why would I want to replace protein with carbs?

Richard SchmittModeratorOh not what I meant, you said you're using Blend H with your cereal and taste bad. I mention Blend D because it was ideally made to be used during meals and doesn't taste as bad as the Blend H, plus I've seen someone who has worked/works with Kiefer who uses Blend D with cereal. Just giving a tip sir.

Lasse ElsbakParticipant900 would be your max, like Tex said, but if you want to try and reach it a couple of times try downing a shake with 50-100g carb with each meal. Not waiting an hour to down your first shake might help as well, since it would give you up to an hour extra to carb up.

julialadewskiMemberHey Murph!my husband likes to down scones, and boxes of oatmeal cream pies! 🙂don't worry about hitting 900. start with where you're at and see how your body responds!

The only way I am getting my recommended amount (650gms) is by utilizing a lot of dextrose with water and just drinking it down throughout the 4 hours. Taking in about 300gms this way. In addition, Mixing my blend H with Results creatine and it masks the flavor plus it gives me another 50gms dextrose. Also use the Results in post workout with the D blend. Not pimping AT Large Products it is working in regards to taste. To go over what I am doing. Getting 50 PWO with Results, mixing 300 with about 1/2 gallon of H2Osipping over 4 hours, and taking Results with D Blend before bed for 50 more, total 400 then I get 250gms through the foods. Still sucks and am pissing throughout the night but easier then choking down 80oz of sweet potatoes and I can still get in the amount of protein needed. My workouts are pretty good. Doing the brutality of Smolov and have plenty of energy. Hopes this helps. Frustrating to see the same non answers on here, "it is just a number to shoot for...." I bought the book b/c I wanted to get jacked and strong. When Brian Carrol said,"the only thing cooler then squatting 1000lbs is squatting 1000lbs with abs" I was sold! Kiefer seems serious in the book.get on here and it is like, oh well as long as you try. In the words of one of the greatest strength athletes of all time. "No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try."

MurphTPSGuestThanks for all the help everyone.I just started adding in carbs 30 min post. I also ordered dextrose.Any ideas on isolate?I have been using biofresh from Protein Factory. While I do not doubt the quality of their products, all of them taste like a bucket full of crushed assholes smothered in vomit. I'm not pic ky when it comes to supplements but they are the worst tasting products I have ever had, except Weider Dynamic Muscle Gainer. I'm showing my age here.I want to recomend protein factory to my clients, but they won't use it.I have been callng a few companies and emailing to find out where there products are sourced. So far no one has answered me except Isopure. They claim all USA sources of raw materials.I am probably going to switch to theirs.Any ideas will be helpful. Again, thanks for all the help.

garyGuestWe love Isopure. As you probably knows mixes easy and goes down smooth. All the flavors are great, my wife loves Mango peach and Cookies and Cream, I like them all even the plain. Only downer is cost but tome it is worth shelling out a couple more duckies for something that gets used. If your clients do not like Isopure's taste then they are SOL when it comes to protein shakes.A very close second choice is At Large Nutrition's Nitrean+. Again, you probably already know this being a strength athlete but for those who don't; They are a small company that sponsors many strength athletes. The do limited advertising but still have been voted #1 Whey for several years in Men's Health. The Nitrean+ already has the 5gm leucine/serving added. Taste really good, very comparable to Isopure. Downside is limited flavors and a tad $ but they are always running sales, currently 15% off. I LOVE there Results creatine. You know how BAD the blend D taste, the Results makes it drinkable.I bought a boat load of the blend H and Blend D. Wife refuses to drink them, dogs won't touch it, and the soup kitchen doesn't take protein powders. Means I am stuck drinking them for the next 3months. I know they are quality, very good $, and will work but.....Oh well I would eat a turd if it added 10lbs on my dead.Good luck, keep posted on how things are working for you. Have been on CBL for 4 weeks switched from SA to DB jury still out. Look really good but having trouble in the gym.

ishredGuesti don't even count my carbs…i just try to shovel in as much as possible with keeping reasonable track of what i eat so i know for next time.I train in the am, so how my workouts go and how i feel in the morning dictate how good/bad i did the night before.tonight will be a couple of bagels, ravioli, oreos, maybe a scone or 3, ice cream, and if there is some room, a few donuts.
