Matthew V JohnsonMemberFolks, I am on day 4-5 of the prep no carb phase. I'm down 3-5 pounds already, but the biggest surprise is that my mental focus is awesome!!! My stats are the following: Weight: 173, Height: 5'8", Body fat(bodpod): 29% just measured and this number surprised me a bit. I thought I was closer to 20% but oh well. Weight 1 year ago:205-210 and have gained some muscle in the last year. Current: 173Training:My training consists of compound lifts, and some accessory work. I also work up a nice sweat during my lifting sessions by limiting my rest times unless I'm going for a PR or lifting very heavy. I train 4-5 days a week. Bench, Dead lifts, squats(front and back) are a major staple in my program followed closely by bb and db press, chins, lunges, rows, and planks for abs. I change up my set/rep scheme along with the exercises to keep my body guessing. Again I am happy with the progress I've made so far as far as building muscle and overall strength, but of course have a long way to go. I'm not happy with my body fat at all. My goal now is to lose fat as the priority, and keep/gain muscle secondary. It sounds like from reading through other posts that folks trying to lose fat as a priority do not backload everyday, and only do it when they are going to train. Is the correct formula to backload after every training session that your also going to train the next day? And then the day before a rest day back off on the PM carbs a bit?I just want to make sure I understand how to make this work for my goals when I start back loading. Thanks ahead of time for reading and sharing advice.

Richard SchmittModeratorIf you're main goal is to drop body fat, and being with 29%, I wouldn't recommend CBL right now. I'd suggest CNS, and just alter your training to compliment that protocol.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorAny chance you could put up a picture?29% just sounds high with your stats, you would have to have like... no muscle mass.Bodpods aren't always super accurate. In fact, they can be way off depending on a few different factors.

wait - what? I thought they were super accurate? Dammit. I've got one scheduled for next week. What factors can throw them off?

Jenelle BrewerParticipantHeather, I just read all about these a few weeks ago. I wish I could find where I read the very specific instructions now. Basically, it said no eating or drinking for (I think) 3 hours before, wearing very thin minimal clothing, no jewelry, and to have the same clothes and about the same time of day when you have your repeat test. They ARE supposed to be highly accurate — I would say there are things that could throw off the results, such as wearing a large sweatshirt? lol Seriously, though, interested to hear what else Trevor has to say about this.

SpatzModeratorWhen I did my bodpod it was scheduled for the morning, I woke up, used the rest room and then refrained from eating or drinking for a few hours until my appointment. Then stripped down to my undies and stepped into the pod. They did say to go in some tight swimsuit or tight underwear so as to not effect the results as much. I don't think they would allow me to wear a large sweatshirt, lol.

Bradley R. CollinsParticipantProbably the most important thing is consistency between follow up tests to measure the change accurately, mores or than what any one time reading gives you, regardless of the method.

heatherParticipantok thanks guys. Yes, the instructions I received were to refrain from eating and wear a swimsuit. I am also going to go in the morning, fasted and without any water.
