FairyKeymasterI keep chewing the gum damn it! Was thinking a patch might work better for me. Any thoughts on whether it works as well? Does anyone have any info on this?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorThe patch is a lot more nicotine, that's the biggest draw back.

sarah_h88Memberi've been chewing the gum as well, 2 mg in the morning and another 2 mg after the first meal. i'm almost done my first pack and i'm debating whether or not to get another one, because i think it's too early and hard to tell if it's affected fat loss in conjunction with the diet change and workouts. but i would love to know more about this and people's results!

FairyGuestWell, it makes me super productive and suppresses hunger, and I'm losing fat much faster than I expected. So, I'm sticking with it 🙂

Ry DiggsMemberI've been on the 4mg pieces of gum for the last few days. It's been working pretty well. I smoked a pack per day until I started using the gum here and the cigarette cravings have all ended with the exception of a few situational cravings, such as enjoying a cigarete with coffee or taking a drive somewhere. But the gum definitely helps once I pop one in

Ya imagine if you go over the dose with a patch :-[ That can be a bad ride that wont end in a few minutes. Much easier to control the dose with the gum.

Cr PowerlinateMemberYou can trim the patches, for what that is worth.

Still too slow to be as effective for what we want to use it for.

Jimmy TParticipantGood for the OP that they're trying to quit smoking but I had a good chuckle at that. 🙂I took the chew slow, store in the cheek instruction to ensure slow and safe release of the nicotine. Some people might be hyper sensitive to the simulative effects. So if you aren't experiencing unpleasant side effects, I wouldn't worry about it.

Do you have an article for why you would need an immediate spike in plasma nicotine concentrations to elicit the performance gains? Especially as one can stage and remove the patch as necessary to avoid a 16/24 hour release and still place a peak plasma concentration at a desired time.

"The patch is tricky and I would not recommend it as it takes around 3 hours to finally "kick in" and will continuously supply your blood stream with nicotine whether you like it or not…"
taken from http://www.primordialperformance.com/blog/articles/the-power-of-nicotine-for-getting-lean.htmlSo basically the dosages the patches come in and the relatively hard way to dose them plus the speed of the release makes them impractical for what we plan on using them for. Not to say they wouldnt work at all just that the gum is a much more efficient choice. And after all efficiency is what DH is all about!

Definitely agree that gum is pretty straightforward. That being said, I don't think the supply would be continual once the patch is removed - in theory, one could get a much larger degree of control over dosing if one was willing to time the releases. Has anyone looked into the nasal nicotine replacement products?

Here was my strategy to quit. 1. I had to really really really REALLY want it first. Not play another mind game about how I'm going to quit because I should.2. I set a day to quit. I got some patches to take the edge off.3. On my set day I smoked that day like I normally did. The next day I didn't smoke, the next day I did, then the next two days I didn't, the next day I did, the next 3 days I didn't.Basically I kept adding a day of not smoking and wore the patch instead. On some days I would forget the patch and it wasn't a big deal and then at some point I found myself just not smoking anymore. The biggest deal for me was finding something to do with my hands because I would always fidget.Good luck! Although if you're serious and have told yourself it's going to happen then luck isn't really needed. 🙂
