RookieMemberSo would any of you think its bad to have CN every 6 days instead of 7?? progress would be slower im sure but i want this to be a lifestyle that makes me happy, usually on my 6th day without carbs i would crave for carbs badly and i think having it every 6th days can prevent me binging or fall off the wagon, as i did last month.
CN every 6 days should be workable, you can try it and see how it goes. The new routine could be CN every 6 days, but the CN itself is maybe a little smaller than you were doing before. Or maybe it isn't, and you just accept a little slower progress, because it's not a race anyway. Everyone does CN a little different.
It doesn't make any difference. If my memory is good in the CNS book it says you can have a carb night every 5 days, just like you can ULC for 8 days. The main reason why it is done weekly is for planning and scheduling purposes. Its just "easier" to have CN on Saturdays for example. While it is possible to CN every 6 days and sounds good in theory, it seems more trouble than what it is worth....

I think he just means for the sake of routine.. For me when I did CNS, I had my CN every saturday because rotating which day of the week I had it would drive me nuts from a mental perspective.. It was nice to know that I always had Saturday coming up.

wpMemberOh..ok. i guess having it on a a fixed day can make life easier and sounds all like just a mental perspective. I will try sticking it to 7 days as im sure progress would be better, but i usually shorten it if i didnt eat enough that week on ULC days. Like this week as im on vocation, i havent fall off the wagon but instead, im eating much less than usual because i didnt want to risk eating anything that may have carbs in it…so for the past 2 days i only had one meal per day ( 10 pc sashimi). Im going home tonight and craving for carbs so badly. I plan to have CN either tonight (5 days apart) or tmr (6 days apart) . Just need advice....safer to wait till tmr to have carbnite right? 5 days seem a little too close.

It's really HUGELY individual. Spatz, I think, does 5 days and she is making GREAT progress.. PHX did a back to back (two CN days in a row every week) and made progress. So for some, having more frequent carb days can actually accelerate results. But, if I remember right, you haven't made it a full month doing the standard protocol yet, right? If that's correct, I'd stick as closely to the book as you can for at least a month.

I have done more than a month but fell off the wagon. So I just had my first carbnite again and tmr will be my second one. Thanks for the advice. I will try sticking to the book as much as possible, and do every 6 days or 7 days. I threw away the scale which I find harder to track my progress, because I'm not so good with measuring. But I do feel less pressured which is better in the long term.

The only time scale really tells you progress is during the prep phase.. Don't worry about it.For you, I honestly wouldn't measure either. At most, take a picture the morning of your CN for a couple weeks in a row, then compare the first one to the third or fourth one. If you see a difference, keep on going! If you don't think you see a difference, start a log here and post it and see what others think..

wpMemberthanks!! i gave myself too much pressure and expected too many miracles the first round and stressed about it so much that ended up days of binging. This time round, I'm taking it slowly and try to see it as a lifestyle rather than something I'm forcing myself to do.

That's exactly what I meant. I like the idea of CN on Saturday. In my typical routine, I would go to the gym at around 2-3pm and smash legs, smash carbs and have carb hangover on Sunday. At the moment I'm not working so it wouldn't matter what day CN falls on, but when I was working there was no way that I would even consider having CN during the week. I wouldn't be able to start the CN until way too late in the evening but i would also not be able to get out of bed for work the next day. lol

El-ApacheParticipantI know this is late, but I lost about 40 pounds in two months with CNS.

Natalia WorthingtonMemberi am doing CNS without training. Just some light walking. Purely for test reasons. I love working out (esp. your basic main barbell lifts). But decided to take a little break and see where diet alone will get me. So far so good. Loosing 1 lb a week. Slow but steady.

Brandon D ChristParticipantMeh.. I think my body is really different compared to people on here. On carb nite, I've been seeing significant gains in muscle than anything else. I've gotten a bit fatter when I first started because I was doing quite a few things wrong in the beginning of the year. But my strength is just insane in the gym. I went from squating 175lbs to 385lbs in just a year.. Tried to do 400lbs just last week, but failed. My deadlifting went from 225lbs for like 4 reps.. to 335lbs for 5 reps.since I started, I gained 20-30 lbs of something.. fat? muscle? mix? no idea.I don't do much activities since I'm a computer programmer.. the only activities I get to do is like 1-2 hours in the gym; other than that.. just sitting around and working. But I need the workout since my physical activities would be nil without it.
I don't think it's unreasonable, or unheard-of, to expect and see strength/muscle increase on CN. That just isn't the protocol's primary focus is all. That being said, with your numbers, it seems like you were fairly untrained when you began, so some of your development could be due to the mystical "noob gains."
A previously untrained individual will still get strength and muscle gains from Carb Nite. Now someone like myself who has been lifting (seriously) for five years will unlikely get decent muscle gains from Carb Nite. However, I think most people get get modest strength gains on Carb Nite if they train properly with respect to strength and the diet.

KbadanesMemberI havent done a minute of cardio, or lifted anything and in one month I've gone from 257 to 242. I look forward to adding workouts but I havent done a damn thing other than follow the diet as “to the letter” as humanly possible. I had my third carb night Saturday and ate two Cronuts, two normal donuts, most of a pizza, and some rice krispie treats and a cinnamon danish. I looked smaller the next day.I am happy to be a spokesperson for 0 exercise and major fat loss

CellarElfMemberSorry to ask a rather dumb question, but I really want to know if anyone here is actually getting great results without any workouts except may be brisk walking? (especially NO HITT)I know this diet doesnt require workouts but sounds like everyone here does have some kind of workout routine.
I've been low carbing since June 24th and discovered CNS a little over a week ago. Since I'd already been under 10gm of carbs for quite awhile, I went ahead and (skeptically) did a CN. I do not work out at all *and* I'm post menopausal *and* I'm female. Granted, last Tuesday was my first CN so we'll see what happens in the future, but after losing only about 10 pounds or so in 16 weeks on low carb, I was shocked to step on the scale this morning and find that I've lost 6.5 pounds in the last week! Oh, and normally where I'd walk an hour each day, I haven't been able to this past week so that made it even more surprising.

Brandon D ChristParticipantI wish we had some active no exercise on these forums. Their stories, results, and opinions need to be heard! I know CNS works without exercise. I had my sister on CNS. She doesn't exercise at all and she lost 25 lbs in two and a half months! Sadly she relapsed back to a crappy diet, but those are still impressive results.
