cloudybrainParticipantI know for a fact CN wouldn't work for me if I don't work out. As a software developer, I do a lot of sitting around for like 8 hours, plus the extra sitting at home. Before CN I was gaining weight at a fast rate, this was because of my stress levels and sleepless nights. After CN, that rate just stabilized and I didn't gain any weight, but didn't lose any either. Now instead of being fat and weak, I'm fat and muscular. I don't talk much about what I do in the gym to anyone, but just yesterday night out of the blue my friend comes out and asks for advice about what to do at the gym. He could visually see that I gained muscle pretty fast, which he then assumed that I seem like one of those guys who can gain muscle "naturally", and that it'd take longer for him to get to where I am. I told him that's crazy because I used to work out for years and I never rapidly gained muscle; the only real difference was my diet.It frustrates me a lot. When I argue about the diet I'm on, or what to do at the gym. For the last 30 years I never thought of myself as the kind of guy who can gain weight or be muscular. People would talk about guys with different muscle fibers, gaining weight fast, and being all natural, while others would have to work extra hard but be cut short and limit themselves. Then I swear, after arguing and finally showing results from the diet and tricks in the gym, then they claim that I'M THE ONE WHO IS NATURAL TOO.. "what works for you won't work for everyone else".. this is coming from friends who are nutritionists, dietitians, doctors..All in all, just lift weights. There are more health benefits to it, not just for losing weight, but it helps prevent heart disease and diabetes.

RookieMemberI wish we had some active no exercise on these forums. Their stories, results, and opinions need to be heard! I know CNS works without exercise. I had my sister on CNS. She doesn't exercise at all and she lost 25 lbs in two and a half months! Sadly she relapsed back to a crappy diet, but those are still impressive results.
Like I briefly mentioned, my wife did CNS and she lost over 50 pounds in the span of around 6 months without doing any exercise. She basically changed her diet altogether and actually surprised herself as to how well she adapted to it. I think that one of her key motivators was the consistent results she was getting each week that made it all better in the end. A handful of ULC foods which she was eating were: broccoli and melted cheese, cottage cheese with ranch and bacon bits, grilled chicken, turkey, ground beef, salsa, bacon, eggs. She would mix it up accordingly. One of the things she didn't really do was calorie count, macro count or even carb count (to a degree) for that matter. So basically after she sourced out all of the ULC foods she was going to be eating, she just left it at that and the rest happened on its own. When it came to the carb night itself, she didn't really go nuts and eat anything and everything she could get her hands on. It was more to the style of just having a "regular" sit down meal with a couple of snacks in between. Once again, she didn't really look into the GI of the foods, specific time length of insulin spikes and she wouldn't regularly eat for an 8 hour period.During this period she didnt use any supplements either. So no protein shakes, creatine, leucine or anything like that. It was all food based intake.I think one of the only side effects that she has is that now she's addicted to Redbull Total Zero. So in other words, its possible that CNS has taken its toll on her energy levels. I was asking her why so I could perhaps try and reduce her $50+ week addiction and she likes the energy as well as the eating suppressant side of it all. So its a bit of a problem....The 6 month goal which she had was for our wedding and so since then we had a 2 week break where she stacked about 5 or so pounds. Once we started the prep phase again she lost it all in the first week (we only did a 6.5 day prep). Since round 2 on CNS she's still maintained her average of 2-3 pounds each weekThis time around she does want to go to the gym and start working out but for the moment she just hasn't had the time to do it. She wants to lose around her upper arms, thighs, stomach and ass.

SpatzModeratorThe first few months I did little to no exercise while on Carb Nite and saw my best fat losses when not working out. I have different goals now, and losing fat isn't right on the top of the list. Its still there, but not number 1 and therefore I have incorporated weight lifting into my daily plan. I want to get stronger and have some pretty awesome muscles. 😉 However, if my goals were purely fat loss I probably wouldn't do much working out. Probably just force myself to do HIIT once a week or something. So I'm a big advocate of CN working for you if you decide not to workout.

Natalia WorthingtonMemberThe only thing I wish I'd lose fat faster. My problem here is I only have 10 or so lbs to lose, so it gets tricky –at this point without exercise. And s-l-o-w…Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Jared WilkinsonParticipantJust to add to the no exercise noise, my wife (5'4″, 165lbs at start) and I (6'6″, 365lbs, didn't take pics at this weight) started CN on May 10, 2013. Our CN isn't until Sunday so our official weigh-ins aren't until Sunday morning but lately I've been watching my weight daily for kicks to see what it does, however as of Sunday my wife is 134lbs and I am 297lbs. My test run weigh-in today has me 5lbs less than last week so I might be at 292lbs by Sunday morning. As for exercise, we don't do jack. I coach my daughters U8 soccer team so for about an hour twice a week, I hope around on the sidelines trying to get 6-7 year old girls to understand spacing and SHOOT THE DANG BALL!!I kind of wish I had kept a diary on here, as there are quite a few really good ones. Thing is, they are usually kept by folks who work out and do a strict macro count. We don't count anything. My typical day start with me drinking a 20oz bottle of water with Orange flavored Mio (I usually refill it a couple of times during the day), then for lunch I eat ham or turkey rolled up with cheese (no idea the carb count for the crappy sliced cheese) or if I go out, I'll get 10-12 mild flavored chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings or Tenders (local chicken joint) and for dinner I usually eat meat. Cheap steak (using sous vide method), hamburger, more wings (a lot of chickens have died for my weight loss). After dinner we usually have a Moo Bar, which is probably the worst thing we do which is 7 effective carbs if you count the sugar alcohols like you should. Right before I go to bed I have a spoonful of peanut butter and drink about half a cup of 2% milk.I have weeks were I lose 5lbs, some where I don't lose any. I haven't had a weight gain week since July. I could possibly lose more weight each week if I cut out the Moo Bar and milk, but it took me 15 years to get to 365lbs so I'm OK with it taking more time to get me to maybe 250 or so. IDK where I'll stop. But right now, we've discussed taking the holidays off and frankly, I don't really want to. I'm happy with my 2-3lbs average loss per week and I don't really miss much other than more variety when I eat out during ULC days. So, I'm not a poster child for the perfect CN but I stay within the 3 main rules (1. Having the reorientation period, which we did. 2. Less than 30 carbs a day, mostly of the time it's less than 20. 3. Carb Nite once a week, usually Sunday for us.) I have a ton of weight to lose but 70lbs is a fine start for me in this time. I have no desire to go back to a high fat, high carb diet full time. Anything I miss (cookie, copious amounts of milk, donuts, pizza, corndogs, milk, cereal, milk, potatoes, and did I say lots of milk?) I get my fill of it on Sundays. I know my way is not the best way, but I'm happy with the results.
