CBachelor17Memberlol there is a HUGE misconception of Soy Protein going on here. But I'm not going to argue the idea that has been primed into everyones head about Soy here. I would have to repeat the education that I have had on it that turned my views of it around. Beef Protein?! Im sorry thats ridiculous, that is the lowest quality protein money can buy. Its literally dried, crumbled, cow scraps, comprised (made up) of literally the scraps of cow. (Nose, Ligaments, etc.) just scrap.

So, beef protein isn't totally useless, it's collagen and can help with recovery of joints and skin. Also, while Soy isn't terrible, it's not great either. Not even worrying about the slight risk of the estrogen, more so the anti nutrient value of it. Soy can inhibit Trypsin.http://articles.elitefts.com/nutrition/soy-the-protein-killer/

CBachelor17MemberThere are numerous links I could post to the effective of the exact opposite of the facts stated in this link. And vise versa (you could find/post several more). I just personally find that Soy is a ideal source of protein in the case that you cant/dont/wont use Whey. Although I can honestly say I never have or will buy it. Because Isolate and Hydrolyzed Whey is IMO the best source of Supplemented Protein, and my body does just fine with it.Along with your statement of eating whole foods I agree that is a great option. Additionally you will save money. I have a few people at work that dont supplement protein, even PWO. They do use it to make whole foods (Protein Pudding, Pancakes, etc) but their performance and results dont seem to be limited by the choice to not supplementing protein.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI don't believe anyone has mention Hemp protein. I actually don't know to much about it, but I've heard it's pretty decent. Anyway, if you look at studies based on what increases MPS you can make any protein source work by adding enough leucine.

CBachelor17MemberDidnt even think about hemp. Probably just because in-store wise its hard to find. I know trader-joes carries it. And of course the ol' http://www.- could come in handy for it as well hah.

ReisParticipantJoe Rogan's nutrition company Onnit sells a hemp-based protein called Hemp Force, which has gained popularity among MMA and Crossfit practitioners looking to stay away from dairy. There's some in-depth info about it here: http://bit.ly/19mGDIq

You certainly could. A lot of people here are having good results with doing quite a bit less protein powder in their PWO and just getting their protein from a meal.If you want to keep some sort of "faster" acting protein in your PWO, you could try adding (and this will probably be gross) pureed meats.. So like food processed chicken breast or something. Having it puree'd will be like "pre-digesting" it, so it'll be used up quicker.

Yea I know several people I work with get good results doing a High GI(Dextrose-Type) carb drink, Leucine, and slam egg whites PWO with good results. Chicken works well too but as far as whole foods go Egg is 100% Digestible, and Chicken is usually about 65-75%. So youll be getting more and at a faster rate with the egg whites.

Cory KraemerMemberI am new here and have a similar issue. I had a food sensitivity test completed and Whey, Casein and Soy all turned up as things I cant eat. UGH… Not im searching for alternative. Does anyone know of the alternatives mentioned which is better for the AM and/or pre-workout shake and which better for post-workout? OR if there are things to aid in AM and/or pre-workout and post-workout shake to gain similar results to the ideal Whey/Casein shake? Thanks!!Cory
