giggleponyKeymasterI have not read all the literature on the dh diet. I currently follow a cbl written by my trainer and through word of mouth I have stumbled onto this site! For the 1.5 months that I have been on this diet, I have eaten the same 8 meals a day seeing excellent gains in strength gains as well as fullness in the muscle belly. My 8 meal a day plan has the last three post workout containing my quick carbs. But what about non training days?!?!? Should I really be eating the same on a non training day?!?! I see alot on here about carb nite and a deloading week (no idea what this is lol) ?!?!clarification? suggestion for a muscle building plan like this?!?!THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 😀

pshannonMemberWelcome! I think we need a little more information about the "8 meals a day diet." The beauty of CBL is that you dont need to eat all these small meals through out the day. The staple of the diet can be found pretty easily on the forums, but I'll give you a quick overview. 1. Skip Breakfest 2. Break your fast around the 12-14 hour mark - usually with just fat (MCT or heavy cream) 3. Eat up to 1.3 g of protein a day and MATCH that in fat. (100g protein and 100g Fat) 1:1 ratio4. Usually people have 1 large meal before their workouts. 5. Start your backload with cleaner carbs (white rice, sweet potatoes)6. Finish your backload with crappier carbsThis is just a very bare bones description, but it give your the MAIN ideas.Â

giggleponyGuesti will eat EVERYTHING if i don't stay on some kind of meal plan so I like eating every 2-3 hours (i work loooooooong days).my question is when you're not lifting, what should be done with nutrition? carbless all day? carbs early? what's best?

On days when you don't do any lifting, you would go carb-less for the entire day.

Do you have the book? Under 30 grams of carbs is the rule...the most successful people are close to 0

giggleponyGuestso maybe 25g of oats with breakfast or somewhere in the middle or the day would be a good choice?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorOn non training days your best bet is to eat as close to 0 usable carbs as possible.Oats are nearly always a horrible food choice for CBL.The biggest recommendation I can give to to buy the book to help have a much greater understanding of the process and how to customize it work in any given situation.

Jack O'NeillMemberAccording to the book, it depends on if you do a Density bulking or Strength version? If you're near an IFBB contest, I suppose your trainer chose the SA version of CBL. In that case, ultra low carbs for OFF days. Otherwise, it's possible to backload even if you're not training.

giggleponyGuestI am not near a contest. Experimenting with CBL for size gain with minimal fat gains 😉 Effective last week, I just go sans carbs for a non training day 😉
