What bothers me more is the distension of my stomach rather than a little softness.

    This could dairy/wheat/gluten intolerance.

...a wholemeal pita would be a meal to me.

You will need to eat WAYYYYYYY more than that when it comes to the backloads on CBL!

It could be an intolerance, I have considered that. But it is always there regardless of my diet unfortunately. As for the pita, I do eat it like a sandwich, as in, with fillings of meat and salad and stuff. But that's a light lunch. I can't stand eating heavy in the day. But this is more reasons why I think CBL would be a step too far for me at the moment and why I was looking for a toned down alternative

The problem is that the magic which makes CBL work is that the majority of your calories have to come from fats, ideally saturated fats (and keep omega 6's to a minimum). This is because you need ketones to be your main source of energy so that glucagon can be a “good little hormone” and use those ketones, rather than catabolising your muscles to provide your brain with glucose. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to eat heavy during the day, you can have several small meals or two big ones, it doesn't really matter. As for your idea with breakfast, well that could work if the greek yoghurt was low enough on lactose and carbs in general, however it would be best to hold off eating for a couple of hours upon waking to allow for cortisol to burn the most fat possible and then get a nice growth hormone release. Also, keep the whey powder to 10g of protein in total at most, and ideally have it with a little fat, preferably coconut milk but almond milk and/or butter would work too. Otherwise, you risk it spiking your insulin levels.

This post was really helpful to know. Can you recommend any recipes or a site with recipes at all? Bearing in mind I'm from the UK, so some options aren't as easy for me. I'd need things easy to take into my office too, so things that either don't require cooking or can be cooked before and eaten cold

I'm in the UK too. There are several recipes at http://athlete.io/forum/index.php?board=29.0 for CBL and to be honest, most of the ingredients are readily found here. For instance I've not had a problem sourcing coconut flour, milk, or oil, nor Kerrygold grass-fed butter (in fact, it was on offer in Tesco last week). And we're well-stocked here for very low carb cheeses, ALDI in particular are great for those (their goat's cheese, brie, camembert, blue stilton and even feta are 0.1-0.2g usable carbs per 100) and their low fat mozzarella is perfect in terms of protein-to-fat ratio (exactly 0.5g fat to 1g protein) plus 1.25g carbs in the entire 125g ball. Hydrolysate and MCT are a bit trickier, but possible to find, and even then they are not vital to progress anyway.

Hi AnsiStar,I had issues with binge eating last year, I was doing low calorie dieting to lose a bit of fat (10lbs or so). It worked well for a while but then the binging started, I would eat till I was nearly sick, it was awful. I just couldn't stop myself. And put all the weight I lost on and then some.I was the same with having to eat breakfast in the morning but that was because I used to wake up starving and would have to eat again at least 2 hours later because I was hungry again! Used to have porridge for breakfast every morning. And I would have to eat 6 + meals a day. I get grumpy when I'm hungry, its not pretty. :S I have been doing the CNS for a month, nearly 2. And It has been amazing. I'm not hungry all the time any more, I have better energy, no 2-3pm slump. I eat 3 times a day + PWO shake, one meal is a snack between PWO and lunch. And I haven't binged (had a week off while moving house, Super stressful! where I ate what I wanted but it was not bingeing as such, just ate what I wanted to and that was my decision to stop CNS for that week, am back into it now) at all its been surprisingly easy to stick to with no massive bingeing or desire to, but that is just my experience and I know everyone is different. I just thought I'd share what I went through having a bad relationship with food myself, I know you're looking at doing the CBL not CNS. But the only way your going to know if it will work for you is if you try it and try it fully as its set out, until you see how your body responds and tweak from there if you have to. There are no quick fixes out there. If it doesn't work for you keep looking till you find something that does. It doesn't have to be complicated.Hope this helps. I wish you all the best. 😀

Hi  Fredrikanita!Really appreciate that you understand what I'm going through 🙂 I don't binge often but when I do I feel like I'm literally unstoppable and it's usually brought on if I allow myself one little treat - I just can't stop! Good to know I can get past it though. I have thought about CNS but I feel CBL will be better for me when I'm eating more and lifting heavier ^_^Thanks so much for your reply!
