guitarjonParticipantSo I've just started backloading again and I'm searching through the forums and through my cabinets just to make sure I know what to avoid and what's not so bad. I've got my diet pretty well under control for the the ULC portion, I just eat 80/20 beef, whole eggs, bacon, cheese, spinach, peppers, fish oil and coconut oil. Occasionally I have a cashew or 2 or 3, and I heat up some coconut oil or some grease from the bacon and maybe a bit from the beef to put on salad. My wife makes delicious food, the thing is, she might use a bit of olive oil or sunflower oil depending on the recipe. For example, tonight she's made a low-fat chicken dish with some baked potatoes and reduced-fat creme fraiche. The recipe as a whole calls for 1 tbsp of sunflower oil and she's used some olive oil to keep the potatoes moist in the oven. She also makes some amazing sweet potato wedges. They get seasoned with steakhouse or cajun spices, sugar and then drizzled with olive oil, again, to keep the moisture in while they bake. I won't necessarily have this kind of stuff as my first meal for every backload, and while I know to avoid things like sunflower and olive oils, can they really be that detrimental to my results when used like this? I don't have any idea how much of the oil I'm even consuming when it's being used just to keep the potatoes moist in the oven. I'll go to a lot of trouble to avoid whatever doesn't work well for CBL, but my wife is a hell of a cook and I've got to draw the line somewhere. Can somebody put some sense into me?

FairyGuestMelted butter is MUCH MUCH nicer than oil with roast potatoes, or any other cooking for that matter 😉 try it

I don't doubt that at all, I've just got to make due with the way my wife prepares stuff when she's doing the cooking. She's into making healthy food for sure, but since I've gotten into CBL my views on what's healthy have changed quite a bit. So far I've gotten her to bake cupcakes and make salsa with dextrose, which both turned out great.
