ReisParticipantGreetings:1st time poster. Thanks for all of the amazing information that's helped me through my first nine days on CNS. Looking forward to tomorrow night for sure ;).Just wanted to pass along a link to a bakery (http://bit.ly/SONDCZ) that specializes in low-carb bread. The Coconut Paleo Bread has 1g of carbs, and some of them have none! Figured it might help broaden some palettes...full disclosure though I have not tried them, but I found a store near me and look forward to going today. Also the reviews look pretty damn good...might be something to try.For all I know this subject has been covered to death, but searches came up dry...enjoy!Reis

Richard SchmittModeratorYep! You're good to go with this! My thoughts? Use for a backload, CN, or even a slice a day for ULC wouldn't hurt!

FairyGuestSorry to disappoint you 🙂 But it turns out bread is actually really boring when you don't get the opium like high that grains provide. So, you can try to mimic it all you like, but it's like drinking alcohol-free alcohol. http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/2012/04/wheat-is-an-opiate/

RussiBGuestI do envy the States when it comes to choice for ULC dieters. Although I'm confident this would be like putting ham between two kitchen sponges for taste and texture it does give you some variety.I certainly don't miss bread enough to pay 8 bucks for a loaf though. What's that in real money, about a fiver? Damn, that's Zimbabwean kinda dough...

FairyGuestYou're not missing anything Russi. Those guys think Kerry Gold's a luxury. I turn my nose up at it 😉

Fuck Kerry Gold's. LOL.I use Organic Valley's limited-availability pasture butter. I stock up on that shit, so when it goes out... I am good to go. 😉Cory

I'm disappointed in these two posts. Your better than that.

Eh, I think grain free bread is decent. It's not as good as the real stuff, but I think it's a suitable replacement. Especially if it's stuff like pancakes or muffins.

ReisParticipantWell I'll certainly give it a whirl…always good to broaden my choices a bit. While I'm not at all sick of my daily visit to “Just Salad” with my double pile of chicken on kale & spinach, that will lose it's luster for sure. There's a place in town called “BRGR” that has all grass-fed meat, but after buying two patties and dropping it on a salad, I'm in the poorhouse somethin awful…

hype8912GuestI've eaten this bread before. It's the best low carb bread I've found. I've tried making almond flour and coconut flour breads at home and they just don't taste the same. I save the loaf in the freezer and then when I get an urge for a slice of bread I'll pull out a slice and defrost it in the oven for a minute or two. Also makes great sandwiches when your in a pinch but I wouldn't make it a staple food because the loaves are about $8 each.

What's the matter with Kerry Gold? To be honest I would be weary of buying Organic Valley's because there are places in the US that say their cows are grass fed, but they really aren't. Kerry Gold is from Ireland where I believe all cows are grass fed.

I was just being a bit of an ass. 😛I buy Organic Valley b/c it is sold @ WFM, and they check-up on their suppliers (and constantly dump companies they disapprove of). Not all OV butters are, but this particular butter is an organic pasture butter, labeled as such, and only sold from May to September. Rich in CLA and Omega-3.Taste is unbelievable.Kerry Gold, for whatever reason, is not sold in WFM.Cory

OV feeds them grass when seasons allow them to roam on a pasture.Even KG sometimes feeds their cows grains when they can't be outside, but you are right in that it will be more consistently grass-fed.

BodynsoilParticipantI've been searching the CNS book for a reference to Almond Flour and landed on various pages here where it is mentioned Kiefer saying that you can replace flour with almond flour. Would almond flour be okay to use for making meat loaf on ULC nights? Also, if you can get whole raw milk (cream)and have a blender.. Homemade butter takes all of 5 minutes and kicks all the store bought butters asses.. just saying... You can use HWC to make your own as well, but that shit is pasteurized and rather dead. Also, I buy cultured butter as it has less lactose and more lactic acid..
